the people from the most south province, neighboring to hong kong, firmly refuse to call themselves chinese. they share the same language with hong kong people, which is cantonese.

they are slim, smart, rich.

A nation is a large body of people united by common descent, history, culture, or language, inhabiting a particular country or territory.

Hong Kong first language is majorly Cantonese while China is Mandarin. They may be part of China but they are a nation. Being a nation doesn't mean they are independent.
Same way Catalonia is in Spain, etc

Which pressure is that? Don't mix up the central government with Hong Kong government. And tell me with evidence what the Chinese government actually did to warrant these protests.

There are other reasons for the protest, but this is one of them.
There's a bill about to be passed that says "All court cases in hong-kong will be handled by the courts in China". And the hong-kongers don't want that bill to be passed because most of such cases are on 'disrespect to the Chinese government' or things like that. And if all criminals from hong-kong are tried in Mainland China, there is bound to be injustice and longer jail terms; plus the lack of freedom suffered by the citizens of China.

There is another reason concerning hong-kong being a full part of China after about 50 years. These are the main reasons for the protest.
