Over population is one of the biggest problems in this country that most are not even talking about.
The rate of exponential population explosion is thr biggest reason why most are in poverty.
The economy is growing at 2 percent while population is growing at 6 to 7 percent. That's a receipe for disaster.
Religious considerations, societal norms, laziness, too much emphasis on enjoyment and sex are some of the reasons for the explosion.
Until we can control the rate of population growth or increase economic growth to 8 to 9 percent(almost impossible) poverty rate will keep climbing.

The record was estimated.
Religion ( especially Islam )culture and tribal differences will never allow Nigeria to control her population growth, in a country where women will not allowed vaccination and new born will not be vaccinated because a set of religious bigot and tribalistic individuals in government and Emirates in the north sees it as a method by the south to control their growth, ordinary family planning they will not accept ,is like there is no hope for this nation

That's the documented figure. Many are birth at rural locations, others at baby factories which are not likely documented.
Documented from where? That is just assumed figure.

And you think life is a bed of roses in other parts of the world? What about countries with falling population, they can't even have children to replace their aging population.

Economically, the Implications of these are 1.High taxation 2.Increase in prices of goods n services 3.Increase in govt expenditure 4.low savings 5.low investment 6.fall in standard of living. Just to mention a few.

the issue is what is the chance of dos 26000 innocent children born just one day in a country that is straggling with inadequate in fractures ie schools, roads, good hospitals, housing etc govt need to come out with birth control laws before an uprising.

murecool:
The United Nations Children’s Fund says an estimated 26,039 babies were possibly born in Nigeria on New Year’s Day.

UNICEF’s Nigeria Representative, Mr Peter Hawkins, said on Wednesday in a statement Nigerian babies would account for almost seven per cent of the estimated 392,078 babies to be born on New Year’s Day globally.

Hawkins said this figure is the third highest number of babies in the world, after India with 67,385; and China, 46,299.

“The beginning of a new year and this year, a new decade, is a chance for us to reflect on our hopes and dreams for the future of Nigeria, especially for those who stand to inherit this country; its children.

“As we start each new year, we are reminded of the potential of each and every Nigerian child embarking on her or his life’s journey if only they are given that chance to survive and thrive,” he said.

The representative said, however, that for millions of newborns around the world, including in Nigeria, the day of their birth was far less auspicious, and sadly, was often their last.

According to him, 2.5 million newborns died in just their first month of life around the world in 2018; about a third of them on the first day of life.

“In Nigeria, this was 318,522 deaths; among those children, most died from preventable causes such as premature birth, complications during delivery, and infections like sepsis.

“In addition, more than 2.5 million babies are born dead each year, with more than 400,000 stillborn deaths taking place in Nigeria annually,” he said.

Hawkins said UNICEF’s Every Child Alive campaign called for immediate investment in health workers with the right training.

According to him, workers are equipped with the right medicines to ensure every mother and newborn is cared for by a safe pair of hands to prevent and treat complications during pregnancy, delivery and birth.

“Too many mothers and newborns are not being cared for by a trained and equipped midwife or nurse, and the results are devastating.

“We can ensure that millions of babies survive their first day and live into this decade and beyond if every mother has good pregnancy care and every baby is born into a safe pair of hands.

“That means having well-equipped facilities with well-trained staff who can be there to welcome every Nigerian child into this world safely and healthily.

“This is especially critical as we now only have 10 years to deliver on the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” Hawkins said.

Statement full of sentiments and fallacies. You aren't talking about the Baby factories in the EAST.
northerners started baby factory , northern familes gave birth to many children so they can rent those children to mallams for begging, mean while a baby in south east baby factory as you said goes to couple without children for millions of naira so you see a baby from baby factory in the east is worth more than 60 almajeri with rubber plates
