Next a joint railway line connecting the western state, they shouldn't wait for the fg

Lagos to Ibadan will be delivered by the F.G this year. We can build from there.

Leopard is Amotekun in yoruba

MuttleyLaff:

Anyway sha, "Ẹkun," in yoruba parlance, actually is leopard, while its "kiniun" or "ogidan" that is lion

"Ẹkun," also signifies and/or means a strong man hunter, hence, the saying "ọmọ ẹkun" that loosely translated, means "child or kid of a strong man hunter"

As for tiger, there's no Yoruba word for it, as we dont have tigers in Africa but "ologini" is used for cats though.

Now, so just to make it a little more confusing, how about in yoruba parlance, "Ẹkun," is leopard and "Amọtẹkun" is cheetah. Of course, you can see why cheetah is called "amọtẹkun". It is because, from a distance, the cheetah, physically looks just as much like a leopard, lol, its the cheetah's smaller size that gives it away, and makes it, not to be mistaken for a leopard, lol
"Amọtẹkun" alternatively means, the "[cheetah], the one that forms like a leopard" or as updatechange, would love to put it, "amọtẹkun" would colloquially mean "[cheetah] sabi reach leopard, " as "Amọ" means "to know" and "tẹkun" means "as much as the leopard"

Not yet now. There’s still freedom of movement in our constitution. We would get to that point when we fully secede.
Haaaa... secede keh?

In this new year, some people are still posting hateful messages laced with tribal slurs. Una ni dey tire? Why can’t people sit down & think how money will enter this year? I don’t think any comfortable person will be bitter enough to be throwing tribal barbs on the internet.
Can be bitter enough to throw religious slurs?

i read Anambra catholic now hold the rest of the state to ransome and the protestant are planning to set fire in the major market in protesting the evil. Your attention is more needed there dear, don't forget there's no active firefighter in that state. Don't let your state down.

hopefully dawn commission can start some organization where private individuals(Yoruba) can contribute for the development of Yorubaland at their convinience rather than just waiting on budgets from the states. I think the development will be faster that way.

This is another year
Tone down these harsh words.
The guy has an opinion, everything isn't competition. The "Ametokun" is a bit advanced than the forest guard.
Now, the SE should improve theirs to outperform Ametokun by drilling the forest guards on extensive combat modules like the US SEAL.
That's how the growth keeps on till we get there.
Jesus Christ! Just imagine!

So the Amotoekun was trained and drilled by US Seal? grin

Who told Forest guards are inferior to this Amotoekun?

Whether you are policing and keeping guard is just a matter of semantics.

This initiative by SW govs is a laudable one. But the way you are guys are now even talking about it as a pacesetter to religionalism and secession would make the fulani government panic and it could lead to another round of wahala.

The Southwest have always been the pioneer of innovative government policies right from inception.

I hope the other regions follow this pattern and stop behaving like sissies shouting ontop of their voices online when the terrorist Fulanis rape their mothers and sisters.

We will measure their success by second quarter of this year and see if they will live up to expectations.

Aji se bi Odua laari, Odua o se bi baba eni kankan!

In this manner you and southwestern region of Nigeria destroyed regionalism in the country.

Two can play the Google translate game. Notice Google translate has cheetah as meaning of "amọtẹkun"

Fyi quickberry2, there's no Yoruba word for tiger, and this is because, we dont have tigers in Africa talkless Yorubaland or Nigeria at large, lol, but we have "ologini," used for cats though. Tigers are not native to Africa, as is often believed, they actually originally exist only in the Asian continent and so, in countries like China, India,Thailand etcetera

It is the similarities the cheetah has with the leopard, that makes the cheetah in yoruba to be called, the ones that knows as much as the leopard (i.e.''amọtẹkun'')

In the image u uploaded, etan was translated to cheetah, while amotekun is written at the top of leopard, check very well. In yoruba ekun is tiger, kiniun is lion, amotekun is leopard

The screenshot provided, says cheetah equates to leopard, panther, lion.

You are trying to minimise, deny and ignore the fact, that tiger is not native to Africa. There's being no tigers in Yorubaland and/or anywhere else in Nigeria.

Just because the screenshot called cheetah an alternate name "etan" doesn't take away the fact it "amotekun" original name. It is just as the lion is called "kiniun" just as well as being called "ogidan"

In Yoruba, "ekun" is leopard, which we have in the land, and "amotekun" is cheetah, which we equally have in the land. We don't have tigers in the land, and so no indigenous name for it.

1/ Give a literal and/or loose translation of what "amọtẹkun" means
2/ When translated to english, what animal is "ẹkun"?
3/ When translated to english, what animal is "amọtẹkun"?
4/ Whats the reason for calling this animal in question "amọtẹkun"?
