How are you sure about this?

It's just my hypothesis. Inkling was the year of manufacture and the fact that it suffered structural failure.

The complain about Double King is too much. Good Ride is better but Maxis is the best. Michelin, Bridgestone, Firestone, Dunlop, Yokohama are tested and trusted. Also, there are "light truck", they are denser and heavier, while there are "ordinary", they are lighter

Reading the complaints too o grin.

How would you rate Kumho Tyres?

The truth is that there are many tyres with superb quality. Those have used it or knew someone who had used it can give a review about it. Just heard the name now

It might have been over inflated or under inflated .. Did you also check the tire ratings? Overloading?
Maybe the owners has been entering pot holes at high speed and the tire has deformed.. So many other factors could have caused the blow out..

Your hypothesis is just like police not investigating a "suicide" because obviously the person was hanging from a rope & a stool was pushed.. Forgetting that it could have murder which was staged to look like suicide grin grin

I personally don't subscribe to the 4 years tire expiry thingie

It is very hot at this time of the year in Abuja. If you drive a lot, the heat from the paved roads will expand the air in the tires. Old tires will not withstand the stress for long. New tires will need to be pumped with air at less than the recommended tire pressure.

Interesting grin grin grin

There’s no such thing as a good quality Chinese tire, my personal opinion.

Don’t be surprised if those tires were even bought used. I’m not sure why folks buy used tires. Yes, I’m aware of the economy but if one has ever had a blowout on high speed then they’ll think twice.

I bought two Firestone Destination A/T last week for N100K, I could have bought other brands for N35K but my life depends on my tires. Too much riding on it to take chances.
U mean u bought each for 50k? Damn. The last time i bought a brand new tyre for my corrola was october 2018 and it cost 20k each. Not even chinese make. Still rugged. Where did u get that expensive tyre?

Even most of those Popular brands of Tyre like Dunlop and coo has many fakes that original because of the prices and 75% of Nigeria can’t afford to buy new ones even 25% of Nigeria can’t afford tokunbo grade one , some people even go as low as going to vulcanizer plave to get a used tyre they can still manage , people patronize tokunbo more than new because most the expenses and the China product is just like u buying the new one . Westlate is a good China product but once it’s continuously hit any pot hole on the road they wire inside start to cut that’s why China product get damage easily because the tread inside is not sting . China is abt mentianace and if u can maintain it well u can even use it for 4 years if is private not public like cabucabu

The same tires were the same price 5 years ago when I bought a set of four.

There are Firestone Destinations All Terrain. They’re not what you have on the Corolla. I’ve included a few web articles. I bought it at an authorized Firestone/Bridgestone tire dealer in Ibadan across from Cocoa House.

I’ve ran a lot of Kuhmos over the years in the USA. Excellent lower priced tires.

This was in the USA where standards are set and products tested.

I love Kuhmos.

Op, first, that word is spelt "tyre".

Secondly, I don't subscribe to the crap that a tyre should be changed after a particular period.

Change your tyre as soon as the gripping threads are worn, whether or not it has expired. undecided

Thank you jare. Imagine a regular traveller waiting for 4years before changing tyres.

Is it tyres or tires?

It is a question of regional usage but according to The Grammarist tire is used mainly in the US and Canada: Tire and tyre both mean a covering for a wheel, usually made of rubber. Tire is the preferred spelling in the U.S. and Canada. Tyre is preferred in most varieties of English outside North America.

It's that time around when Mrs Piyke's car needs new tires. For safety reasons, I usually replace tires maximum of 4 years from the manufacture date.

I zoomed off to Gudu, got 4 new tires and proceed to my regular wheel balancing/alignment outfit.

2 things that happened while I was there that made me open this thread...

I have a question
My tire ran out of air
I used spare n on getting to the wheel balancing man. He showed me two nails had punctured my tires
He billed me 1k per nail to remove n fix
Then 1000 to pump all 4 tires to standard size of 45

My question is I fell cheated
Do they charge per nail?
To pump tire used to be 50naira why did he charge me 250each
Pls note that I haven’t done this in a while n husbandman is not reachable on phone.

2 family members have used double King tires with good success. The other factor we have not covered here is the vulcaniser connection. Story for another day, but back in 2012 one inflated my tire to 50psi.
Wear also depends on how much mileage you cover. Threads will typically go out from around 50k miles.
may your famy members were just lucky. My tyres carry 2017 date nd as at 2019, they have all deformed such that my car started jumping and started giving me a bumby ride, my anger is that, the thing made me spend changing parts that were fine, my mechanic kept diagnosing different things until I discovered it myself. I have promised myself that if I do not have money to buy brand new continental, Michelin tyres and other good brands then I will buy the Belgium. I have 3 Belgium Michelin tyres now and I'm happy with them

chai! The guy really cheated you FA, better soup for am when him reach house. Pumping your tyre should cost more than 100bucks per tyre depending on the area sha. And the nail thing shouldn't be that expensive.

This is not street knowledge. Stick to beer parlour gossip rooms. Btw, it’s called TIRE in N/America
