Mourners Attend Qasem Soleimani's Funeral Ceremony. Iraq Asks US Forces To Leave by Gentlemanforyou: 4:03pm On Jan 05, 2020
ISTANBUL — Iraq's prime minister Sunday urged parliament to take "urgent measures" to force the withdrawal of foreign forces following a U.S. drone strike that killed a senior Iranian commander and key Iraqi militia leader in Baghdad last week.

In an address to parliament, Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi recommended that the government establish a timetable for the exit of foreign troops, including the members of the U.S.-led coalition to fight the Islamic State, "for the sake of our national sovereignty."

"What happened was a political assassination," Abdul Mahdi said of the U.S. strike that targeted Iran's elite Quds Force commander, Maj. Gen. Qasem Soleimani, as traveled in a convoy near the Baghdad airport.

He said that foreign troops were in Iraq to train its forces and help target remnants of the Islamic State "under the supervision and approval of the Iraqi government."

"Iraq cannot accept this," he said. "No foreign troops are allowed to conduct their own military actions inside Iraq."

His statement followed an earlier announcement from the U.S.-led coalition saying it had paused its training mission in Iraq due to "repeated rocket attacks over the last two months" by the Iran-backed militia, Kataib Hezbollah. It would now focus on protecting its bases from attack, the coalition said. NATO announced Saturday its own suspension of training programs.

Iran meanwhile said Sunday it would limit its response to the attack to U.S. military targets.

"The response for sure will be military and against military sites," Hossein Dehghan, the military adviser to Iran's supreme leader, said in an interview with CNN. "The only thing that can end this period of war is for the Americans to receive a blow that is equal to the blow they have inflicted.

The Americans are in every single Muslim country either directly or indirectly. Wherever there are Muslims including Nigeria, they meddle in their affairs. If not for Russia and China, America would have nuked some Islamic countries since a very long time ago.

This is the type of injustice and forceful occupation of Muslim countries that breeded Al - Qaeda and ISIS !!!

Before nko, trump wants to turn their country into a battlefield, why would trump assassinate another country's general on iraqi soil?

US has been fighting in IRAQ and Afghanistan for 19 years, yet the Countries are in disarray, insecurity, fighting, killings and bombing everywhere and every day despite the Military might.

The two Countries are in worse conditions 19 years after, with peace never in sight

This shows that war is never the solution.

Even the Russians and Chinese do not trust you muslims, that's why they keep the Chenchenya muslims and Uigur muslims who are respectively in their countries on a very short leash.

I doubt iran can do anything... They wouldn't want to risk a full blown war with the US.

But the truth is that the general shouldn't have been assassinated based on some intelligence which might not be right. I believe they are just looking for a reason to invade Iran.

The demand by the Iraqis that the u.s leave their country can be considered a major diplomatic coup by Tehran and a big slap to America, after spending trillions of dollars and wasting so many American lives, only to be disgracefully asked to leave by those they paid with American blood to 'liberate' American misadventures in the Middle East are always bound to fail from the very beginning.

Useless people. Soleimani was picked up at the airport by Iraqi rebels. First question will be what is the supposed head of an elite force doing with rebels?

He finally had his head blown into pieces by superior fire power. Iran's only allies will be rag tag militia in the war torn zones of the middle east.

The head of their military was killed like a common criminal, is that the person that wants to lead them to a war? Lol...jokers

Iraq asking the US to leave would be a big mistake.
The Sunnis still feel marginalized and ISIS would return in full should the US withdraw.
The truth is that Iraqi army is no match for ISIS even with Iranian support.
This is because the Iraqi army are a bunch of ragtags loyal to their tribe and not the country.

An average bigoted Christian on nairaland lies 90% of the time. When Muslims conquered Spain they never tried forcing everyone to convert, the moment Christians recaptured the country, the began killing off Muslims till there were no Muslims in Spain. Muslim once ruled India yet till this date the Hindus are the majority, no Muslim army every set foot in Indonesia but today it is the largest Muslim country. Without lies, you bigots have nothing to offer, you accuse Muslims of crimes your fellow bigots wage against the rest of humanity.

@op better Iraq demands US leaves it is clear they have no regards for the people.

Comprehension is now becoming a rare trait
The guy was sensible enough to state that Americans are the true origin of terrorism in the world and you are saying something entirely different.
Vietnam, Afghanistan, Ghadaffi and others, I hope they are guilty of forcing people to convert to Islam!
2020 is a trying times for President Trump and the only way for him to overcome November election is to start a war as it has been observed in history that all American president that start a war in their first term were able to secure a second term, war provides a sense of unity and this will be the rallying force needed for Trump to win the election.

Pls this is not Buhari, APC or PDP issue

cool

Trump is lossing Allies as we speak (except Online Country and warriors like Ipobian) real Americans are scared of war cause of its cost, American youths dont want to be Drafted for another unnessary war

Protest are ongoing in cities in America and Europe that they dont need war

Yet somehow somehow.. some Nigerian Dunce misguided unfurtunate youth who ordinarily cant fight back at an illetrate bush man Fulani Herdsman, or kidnapers ravaging their village are running their mouth on Nairaland

PS: This is not a religion war, or christian vs muslim.... US presence in the middle east is to protect Saudi- Kuwaiti UAE and other muslim countries Oil Asset and Installation
