This is probably the first time Spider-Man is not #1. In merchandise retail sales, Spidey was the leading superhero character worldwide, beating out the Avengers, Superman & Batman.

2017: 1. Spider-Man, 2. Avengers, 3. Batman.
2016: 1. Spider-Man, 2. Avengers, 3. Batman.
