the guy dey do mmm or him just dey enter bank any how to access their professionalism. I no get am

He is like a mystery shopper. He goes into banks to observer the environment and then writes a report. They do it a lot in the UK and US. In fact mystery shoppers get paid. It's a brilliant idea. It helps put customer workers in check cuz their branches will be rated on how well they did as compared to another branch.

GTBANK and STANBIC IBTC are still my best banks.
They've empowered customers to run things.
I can't remember when last I entered a banking hall thanks to their 737, online banking and multiple alternative channels.

Those Complaining about banks are those who have refused to move with the times. Apart from cash deposits and withdrawals you can do virtually everything without visiting a branch.

I disagree. There are people who don't know how to use smartphone talk less of computers, so they have no other choice but to go into the bank.

The easiest way to ease the stress on everyone is if retail stores and banks have alternative pay in services. I.e pay cash in via envelope and use machines rather than queuing. By now, stores in places like Shoprite and other major retails stores should have self-check out sections. These two things can help Nigeria.

Don't blame those bank staff as they are deprived of so many benefits promised them over the years. Some are not happy at all. Some are 8 years on the same level without promotion. No promotion or salary increment.

If you are a graduate and aspiring to become a banker in those new generation banks I pity you. They make your life miserable and ensure you continue working as a contract staff for 4 years and more. Most banks don't care about their staff welfare. It is so annoying that after promising them good welfare package, they refuse to honour their pledge.

How will such staff be happy. Some are not happy at all and the industry is capitalist in nature with self centered mgt using their staff salary to increase the balance sheet.

If this continues, the service will worsen. You see banks declaring huge profits but it does not reach the middle and lower level staff. Even the branch mgt are not happy with the conditions of the lower staff. The loyalty is lost btw employees and employers.

I totally agree with you. I actually use to work in customer service and use to make a lot of money, but I wasn't happy with my job. I can imagine what it is like for those are making next to nothing and work long hours in a place like Nigeria.

Service quality is a function of training, orientation, emotional intelligence etc I worked in Sterling Bank as a ********. I was a customer centric to a fault, to the point that a customer wrote a commendation letter and gave to my service manager. Today, the quality of my service is still above average but not like it used to be. The smile had given way to melancholy and I don't go the extra mile even if my branch is on fire. Customers who knew me when I took the bank like my father's business often wonder what had happened to ******** He now looks unkempt and sometimes suffers feats of memory loss. What went wrong? Well, it happened that the bank decided to implement a CBN recommendation that banks complaining of high operating cost should use contract staff for customer service and tellering so as to reduce staff cost. And so, they sacked everyone of us and ask us to reapply through contractors. Since then, we had no chance of moving forward in the job. I just started recovering from the trauma of wasting my life with this useless bank. Right in my eyes, core staff just joining are been paid 204k per month. You guys should not get angry at our service, I apologize on behalf my colleagues in Sterling. You should rather, see it as failure of management. The entire thing is a sham. Merit and ability have been sacrificed on the alter of empty looks. I know that Bisi would have made effort to stop this illegality, but will have be en shot down by the hirelings in the system. They only care about bringing their children to come and do SGAP and SMAP, so they will become the next generation of management staff in the bank. Awon olori buruku. I wish the CBN will sack the entire management team of the bank, they are mean. Imagine, tempting the poorly treated staff to just settle theirselves with customers fund. Busola, may you never no peace wherever you are. You made me to become a laughing stock and a pitiable site amongst my colleagues. And for the management that thinks everything is about naira and Kobo, well, in decision making, there are also qualitative factors to conside, like what effect will this decision have on staff morale? Though I have since moved on, but I must confess that it was not easy. The management should sit up, there is power in the pen, make sure you don't make mistakes, your market cap does not go below the acceptable threshold and that you are making sufficient profit or else we will report and amplify your incompetence in our business daily. I am still a stakeholder in the bank as a member of the public interestedin the financial health of a publicly quoted company. Thanks for making me realize my potential.

Hugs

Customer service has to be one of the most important part of banking business, I mean this is the first department the customers come in contact when they get to your bank.

Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) at East West Road, Rumuodomaya, P/H, Rivers customer service is the worst on earth. The women that called thesame customer care needs to be trained on how to handle customers. They don't want to listen to u. Inshort if not for the love i have for the bank i would have close that account. A little change of name on my BVN they couldn't do after waiting for 3hrs was done in another GT bank.
