Sorry but no excuse for failure. Take a look at the federal university in the state. Is not us to top 30 best university in Nigeria but the school fees has been doubled to 100k. Tell me how lower income masses can send their children to the school which has poor infrastructure? Anambra is a joke. Only zones where development is ungoing is Onitsha, Awka, Nnewi, Ekwulobia, Obosi what of Ihiala, Aguata, Ozobulu, Anam no development in those area only thing there are motels .

So it is Ikorodu that does not have good roads or mushin that doesn't even have up to 500 metres of tarred road in the entire mushin or mile 12 that smells every day and is filthy like a suck away that is not a village? Have u taken ur time to climb that Ijora bridge and look at the aerial view of that brown roof rubbish u call Lagos mainland? How about Ijora badia that looks like a canal with witches and wizards? I can't even advice my worst enemy to relocate to Ijora badia. Apapa nkor? Useless people always looking for ways to prove that the dilapidated trash in the SW is better than other states in the country.

Federal University is not the job of state Government, it is the job of the Federal Government. Besides the Federal Capital, Abuja, and former Capital, Lagos, I do not know of any state that can say it is more developed than Anambra. Nigeria as a whole is a poor, under-developed country. Considering that situation, Anambra has done very well for its self despite tough challenges. I dont even know of any state in Nigeria that can claim to have three major cities developed to the scale of Onitsha, Awka and Nnewi

Don't mind the idiot u are replying. He is talking about federal university in the east as if UNILAG has good power supply and water. The students there protest almost every year because of lack of water, electricity and other amenities. Instead of addressing that one, he is more concerned about the one in Anambra.

Trash. People who label Anambra a village are ignorant zombies. And for u to state that large areas in Anambra are undeveloped and that's why it's a village shows that u are also an Ignorant zombie. Onitsha has an urban landmass of 1,960 sqkm which is bigger than Lagos island. By the time we include Awka and the fast developing parts of Nnewi and Ozubulu then u know that your conclusion that Anambra is a village is a sign of peak ignorance.
Pls don't repeat such nonsense here again before I give u hot slap.

Ah Sir, it's not us un that level na. I am telling you what Anambra kids in Lagos think of it. Am not the only one brainwash by teachers in my school.

REPORT OF FIRE OUTBREAK AT OLD MOTOR SPARE PARTS MARKET, MGBUKA OBOSI AT EARLY HOURS OF TODAY

At about 0142 hours (1.42am) of today Saturday 11-01-2020, Anambra State Fire Service received a distress of fire outbreak at Old Motor Spare Parts Market, Mgbuka, Obosi.

Immediately, we deployed our Fire trucks and firefighters to the scene to fight the fire. There was no loss of life during the fire outbreak as the fire outbreak is under control.

The cause of the fire outbreak is yet to be ascertained.

The fire outbreak was much due to the nature of things they sell there which are mainly flammable materials. With the application of our chemical foam compound, we were able to fight and control the fire.

Thank you firefighters for the sleepless night and struggles. Thank you the general public for the assistance and support given to firefighters during the fire fighting. Thank you also the Nigerian Police and other sister Agencies for your support and coverage.

I hope it is now crystal clear to everyone that there are indeed highly trained arsonists sponsored by powerful northerners & some rabid anti-Igbo FG northern officials, to go around and set fires to all Igbo markets and important buildings in Nigeria.

Vigilance in ALL markets and business places should be the watch word now. They have abandoned the use of petrol tankers. Now they are using arsonists to sneak into markets at midnight and set fires. All in their economic war against the Igbo.

Again, they will fail. Let us remain vigilant and tackle this new scourge.

Fire service needs to be proactive. All markets are supposed to be visited and inspected by fire department officials once per month. Markets should have fire compliance certificates issued and be drilled on safety measures and fire department contacts once a year. Shops with combustible materials should have fire extinguishers and smoke detectors. This is a revenue source and work for the fire department.

Again the government needs to bring markets under control. A village market with 20 shops can get away with primitive organization but one with 1,000 shops that lacks plumbing, parking, has haphazard electric connections, leaky roofs and spills into the road shows fundamental poor management and planning and constitutes a safety and sanitation disaster waiting to happen.

I beg to disagree with you sir, our trading system and platform appears outdated and archaic, this is not surprising, this generations of igbos need to step up their games , i have visited all the major markets in Nigeria and our markets in the south east are in dare need of of an over haul.

We need shopping cities with full amenities like you have in Deira , Dubai . where shops ,restaurants , malls and hotels, co exist side by side and not shanties like lock up shops exiting beside very dirty unkempt open gutters , inadequate toilets and no fire extinguishers .

After building a world class Anambra Millennium City which by every standard will be game changer and will force many igbos back to the East, Obiano should follow up with a World Class Market city that will be the best by world standard and will compete with Dubai , Singapore etc

We actually need 4 shopping cities and 4 high brow Cities in Enugu Aba, owerri and Onitsha , this will change the dynamics of business in the east and upgrade the east

They need to upgrade all those markets in Onitsha. Incorporate them as a corporate body and get finance to upgrade and re-organize them as proper modern organized wholesale shopping streets/malls with conveniences like what you see in Asia and Middle East. Make it pleasurable and shoppers will come from far and wide.
