The buildings/infrastructure in igboland is terrible. I really wish they would invest in architectural research to help improve the designs. Everything is so dated. In 2020 I’d expect better designs similar to the one below.

what you posted is ugly in my opinion. Why do you think it looks good? lol

Sand dunes is the least. What about stinking gutters full of plastic trash? What about enforcing basic laws on parking, traffic? Just go down Enugu-Onitsha expressway. Emergency lanes have become car parks, the entrance to bridges become markets. Every road the junction becomes a parking for Keke and buses.

The difference between a civilized place and a jungle or a ZOO is law and order. Little Rwanda can organize a functioning civilized city not run like many African cities like a zoo. They don't have monkeys and baboons in government.

I'm just wondering if it wouldn't make a little more sense to create a wooden roof or even trampoline over those pumps to protect the coil from the rain.

I sometimes used to wonder why government property such as water pumps never last. But when private people buy the same pump, it will last more than 10 - 15 years.

The difference is that a private owner will put the pump where it's not exposed to direct rainfall, while when it's government property, nobody cares to protect it and prolong its usefulness

Gov Obiano restates commitment to N22.2b Anambra Airport road project
January 24, 2020 - by Joseph Udo - Leave a Comment

WorldStage Newsonline– Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra has restated his commitment to the construction of roads leading to the proposed Anambra Airport at Umueri, Anambra East Local Government Area.

In September, 2019, Obiano announced that a total of N22.2 billion was estimated for the construction of roads and bridges leading to the airport. The government earmarked six billion naira in the 2020 budget for the project.

Obiano gave the assurance on Friday when he inspected the dual-carriage road leading to the airport from Nteje in Oyi Local Government Area commended the level of work and Kanubeen Construction Company Ltd handling the project for the job it had executed.

The governor Obiano, who was accompanied by the Commissioner for Works, Mr Marcel Ivejiofor, said that the 4.3km road from Nteje area would be completed with quality materials.

“We have three roads leading to the airport; one from Nsugbe-Umueri axis, that is when coming from Onitsha, and another one for those within Nteje, Umueri and Aguleri axis.

“We also have this one, which will be the major highway to the airport.

“All these roads are to ensure that we don’t have traffic on the airport roads and also to make it easily accessible to the people of the state and Nigerians in general,” he said.

The governor gave an assurance that all the three roads leading to the airport would be completed in record time.

“We are committed to ensuring that all these roads are completed with the best road infrastructure and we will finish them on time by the grace of God,” Obiano said.

Construction of the proposed airport, with an integration of a mall, industrial and business park as well as an airport hotel, was inaugurated by the governor in 2017.

Una see am? 22 billion just for a 4km road to an airport that has not been built. Meanwhile, this same government in 5 years could not finish the expressway from Onitsha to Awka but had to prostrate to the FGN. They couldn't use 22 billion to tar their capital city with good roads properly or build a proper Conference Center not one which has no known architectural firm and is being built by no.known engineering firm that will probably mess up like IDC did with the earth ramps in Awka they call flyover.

Somebody should tell Obiano to do things the way its done everywhere else and get experts that know what they are doing.

Look at the impressive International Conference Center built by Cross River designed by Henning Larsen and built by expert firms. contrast Accras international airport built by Turkish engineering firms to the rubbish Nigeria is building with Chinese firms known for roads and bridges.

The road is still under construction. When it is completed, road sweepers shall resume work there just like other major roads around the state

Stop misinforming the people with your lies here. It is not 4km road. It is just one of the 3 dual carriageway roads that is 4km. Airport roads are 3 in directions dual carriageways. They are, the one that runs from the airport to Onitsha-Awka Express, another at Nsugbe-Aguleri and lastly another at Nteje-Igbariam. Listen to the video below from 7th minute and hear from the governor as he explains the 3-nos dual carriageways to the airport.

Stop giving yourself unnecessary headache about anything that concerns the airport project. The project cannot be halted because a lone voice is on nairaland crying wolf

Anambra needs an international airport like yesterday and our governor is building it and we applaud him.

Onitsha-Awka highway is seriously under reconstruction by FG, inner and outer streets and roads of Onitsha and Awka are being reconstructed heavily, the worldclass ICC in Awka is being handled by a foreign firm that did Golden Tulip Agulu lake resort. Awka flyovers are beautiful and well built by IDC.

Some persons have warned you here to stop crying about the ongoing airport project because it is as good as a done deal. The states that have airports didn't do all those things you mentioned before having their airports but Anambra is doing all of them and still doing the airport project.

I think they are not done yet completely. Those pumps have coils in them. There must be provisions for covering or shade above the platform so that water doesn't spoil the coil. It is just a mere inspection and not commissioning.

Anambra international airport runway ongoing construction. It is a 3.8 runway that will accommodate biggest jumbo jet that has been built. For anyone that's still crying wolf about the airport project should quit crying because we can't listen to enemies that doesn't want good things for us. Work is ongoing at site night and day to meet the schedule.

the whole thing weaks me each time I think about it. I just can't seem to understand why we can get it right in west africa. East, north and south Africa have all left us behind. Most especially Nigeria in particular

Very good. They should speed it up. Sterling Global Oil Exploration and Energy Company has been drilling oil at Ogbaru while Orient petroleum has also been drilling in Otuocha. FG should start paying the state 13% derivation.
