Your suggestion to remove tarrif on solar is a good idea. But in this news, the Op just want to incite people. It is the European Union and German government that are financing this as their support for control of climate change. And not Nigerian government or tax payers money.

We both know that this "financing" will be repaid by the Nigerian government. If you know GIZ well, they don't do this stuff for free. They're the same with FMO, Oikocredit and all other social investment managers. If they truly wanted to address the negative effects of climate change, they would not invest in cook stoves that run on non-renewable energy. They would focus on renewable, sustainable energy like solar.

Did you know that India has over 83 gigawatts of solar energy installed and in use in their country and has mandated all companies operating in their country to adopt full use of solar energy in their operations? They have enabled these companies to obtain solar energy systems by removing the tariffs on solar products and granting tax exemptions for up to five years for companies that will comply.

No, it is not the same thing. 2000 stoves for 88 million is more outrageous than 750000 at 9.2bn. Do the maths and post the figures here.

Like you did see very well
2000 stoves for 88mil, is it the same thing as 750000 stoves for 9.2 BIL. Get sense abeg.

And that is even where the corruption is more alarming and painful because these donor organisations are committing funds to the ministry of environment for the outrageous purchase and distribution of 2000 stoves at the unit cost of N44,000 each. Is that the best way a decent, corruption-fighting government can deploy scarce donor funds considering the level of poverty in this country? There is no incitement, the Buhari government steals both government money and donor funds without remorse!

If this is really about climate change, can you honestly say to yourself that this is the best angle/approach the Ministry of environment can channel donor funds through? Buying and distributing stoves? What is the source of fuel? AT what cost? How does 2000 stoves begin to even cut through the number of extremely poor families who depend on wood and coal as cooking fuels which we ought to be working towards reducing to address deforestation/desertification?

Watch how all of them who foolishly criticised the GEJ administration about this same project

You see, most Buhari's followers are as brainless as the man himself - very unstable human beings
They can't reason on their own but swallow the lies from their master hook, line and sinker.

The president lied to them that there is nothing like fuel subsidy, they believed.
He became president and even started paying higher for subsidies after nearly doubling petrol price from #86 to #145

The president lied to them again that he will disband the presidential fleet, use the proceeds to revive Nigeria Airways and that he
himself will fly commercial planes like every other Nigerian, like zombies they clapped and chorused 'Said Baba'

He became president and instead increased budgets for presidential fleet, turned it into a family jamboree

You spoke well

Instead of this government to remove the import duty on solar products and other solar-powered products and stimulate uptake of solar energy products in our country, they are busy looking for avenues to waste taxpayers' monies and enrich themselves through inflated contract schemes. I have observed that GIZ is mentioned in this foolish venture. Such a shame! To think that they would be involved in distributing cook stoves that represent the past, fading technology.
This sounds like a good idea; Nigeria just lacks leaders that can think. A sensible government should declare a state of emergency in the power sector and encourage any initiative to end our power travails in the shortest possible time.

Solar power still remains very expensive today, but there's still a lot the government can do to encourage the penetration of solar energy into Nigeria. Even in the UK where there isn't a power problem, their government gives incentives for households who opt for green (solar) energy.

Na una people na, Buhari, Osinbajo and their ministerial appointees...5 years of APC is better than 16 years of PDP mantra! Ministry of Environment will be the recipient of the funds and executor of the so-called project o!

Have you done the math? 750000 stoves at the cost of 9.2bn = N12,266/stove (GEJ/PDP);
2000 stoves at 88million naira cost = 44,000/stove (Buhari/APC). Is it inflation abi dollar rate increase? Una well done

My brother, there is no single approach to fighting climate change. This approach is certainly one of them. As for your question as per whether this is the best place to channel the money, I will tell you, in case you haven't dealt with donor agencies, know it from today, their donations are usually tide to specific projects, hence, in this case Nigerian government has no choice than to spend it where the donor has specified.

For the amount per each you stated at 44k each as being outrageous, I will also inform you that donor agencies do not just donate and go. They are usually part of the procurement process. unless you are suggesting that they will partake in sharing the money as you alluded.

But one thing you must understand is, the 88m amount is the total budget for the procurement; which includes logistics such as, transportation, stationaries, market survey, meetings etc. All those has been factored into cost per unit. Not to talk of the fact that we do not know the specification.

Also know that all these does not happen in few weeks or months they take time. I am not justifying corruption or saying that there may be no Judas amongst the team, rather its an experience I have had with these donor agencies. Again, screaming in the manner you guys are doing will simply suggests that everything is a fraud.

You are wrong. Nigerian government will not repay a donation of this nature. It was before 2015 that Nigerian government borrowed to finance frivolities. I remember we even borrowed to pay salaries, and 27 States could not pay salaries before this government came and started giving them budget support, pari fund etc. Unfortunately, those things happened when we were selling our crude oil at about 130 dollars per barrel. But I must tell you, do not entertain fear again, because that era has long gone.

As for India having 83 gigawatts of solar, kudos to them. Me, I strongly support the idea of removing tarrif in the importation of solar equipment into Nigeria, or better still, set up factories to manufacturer them here. Besides the government has recently entered into agreement with Siemens for incremental growth in our power sector starting from this year. And I strongly believe it will work considering the sincerity and manner in which the deal was signed.

Until the details of these stoves are made public I see bo reason why anyone should blow a fuse.

Why don't you guys ever learn?

Has any country ever given anything called foreign aid or made foreign Investment into Africa without qui pro quo?

All you are getting are gift vouchers to spend the way they want to boost their economy. They have never invested anything in Africa to make you self sustainable because you are "regular customers" that keep on sucking up.

If you want to know the real foreign aid and Investments, they are the ones coming from Africa to benefit and sustain them for life like free labor, natural and human resources on a one way trips.

All you get is vouchers to spend in their stores and celebrate.
