I hope there are CCTV cameras around the place the incident took place, also Police should ask if he had any issues with clients or somebody recently.

Any country in Europe that the security is not tight is not for me, If I decide visit Nigeria I will know it's Nigeria and prepare for it, I don't want to be in Belgium and not know it's Nigeria in disguise.
