Tips on how to retrieve your money after you have been scammed. by Nerdnextdoor: 6:54pm On Jan 14, 2020
Please read careful and learn.
Some Nairalanders and many socia media users and shoppers have been scammed at one point or the other, either large bucks or small money and It's quite painful.
Many people don't always know what to do, so today am sharing with you things you do, when you realize a page you paid for a service or goods is ghosting you:

1. Screenshot all previous chats across all messaging app (IG and WhatsApp or FB).

2. Write out the Full name and account number of the page or person.

3. Go to the last notification your bank sent you after you made the payment (via mobile app or text)

4. copy out the "TRANSACTION ID NUMBER".

5. Go to any branch of the scam artist's bank (the bank the scammer uses), ask to see the CUSTOMER SERVICE in charge of FRAUD.

6. If you can, print out all those chats with the scammer, and submit it. While you are there, send an email to SCAMMER'S BANK and copy CBN FRAUD DESK (ethicsoffice@cbn.gov.ng OR anticorruptionunit@cbn.gov.ng.)

This will ginger the bank to take it up fast.
What should you expect from this? The culprit/suspects account will be PLACED ON HOLD. Meaning he/she cannot transfer or withdraw until they visit the bank, and when they do, the bank will contact the police and the suspect when proven guilty will sign a waiver allowing the bank to refund your money.

*Thanks and God bless you, say No to Fraud*

Also please report the details to FRAUDKOBOKO.COM

We do the same job as mentioned by the OP but a professional relationship.

After that, you will reduce their chances of scamming another person with any of their detail like phone or bank account.

I was at GTBANK today to report a fraud case but the customer care didnt request any document from me. Instead she said I should go and get a police report first. We know Nigeria Police , I will have to pay to get any document from Nigerian Police. Even last two years when robbers came to my house, I paid to report the robbery case.
Though I've sent an Email to GTbank and also CBN

See why scammers are walking about the still scamming pipo?

Imagine the stress these banks put victims through just because of negligence. How can a bank take a case of fraud lightly like this.

Who are the law enforcement? Same useless police

The best advice is to avoid getting scammed in the first place. Make sure you thoroughly research any people or projects offering extraordinary returns. All investments carry a degree of risk. There is never a guarantee of profits, contrary to what people claim.

If I got scammed, I'd contact my Miami lawyer for clarification. But like I said, it's probably best to research these people beforehand to avoid falling into their trap.

A good thread.
My son had his ATM stolen in a cab and was also forced to disclose his PIN. It was on a Saturday. Alert of withdrawal started dropping on his email and within minutes they cleared his account. His phone was stolen also.

Sorry about this incident. He should have contacted his Bank ASAP to have his ATM blocked.

Next time when he's such. tight situation, he should dictate d ATM password in reverse... e.g 1234 now becomes 4321 which will alert d security of d bank illegal withdrawal is about to b make. But I pray he'll never experience it again

banks are bloody inconsiderate people!
I was scammed recently but firstbank has refused to do anything about it while the scammer's bank Fidelity keeps telling me to go through my bank. So so bad!

How do you mean tried registering, you don't need to register just report the fraud directly?
