The cold reason why we educated people play second fiddle to 'NEPA bill holders' (and by the way, Buhari has lots of qualifications, especially since he graduated from what is now the NDA with a higher qualification than his SSCE...and no, I am not his fan for his flawed economic polices, and the fact that he is old, and should have retired for the young ones since 2011..or earlier)...is that the NEPA bill holders go and do the hardwork of politics, while we educated people look down on such work.

Take GEJ. GEJ started out as a 'ordinary local government chairman'..from there he became a Deputy governor, and then a governor, and then President. People like Obasanjo and Buhari, in addition to starting small, also developed friendships and used their connections to get somewhere. But they started small...and grew big.

Meanwhile, 90% of people with big degrees sit down, wait for a job in an airconditoned office, and then chop money....Most of them won't go to their village, start out as a village councillor, then LG chairman, and so on. Many of them won;t even enter politcs because 'it is for dirty people'

At the end of the day, it is the illiterates who care...that get the top jobs because they were ready to work from the bottom up.

One other thing...many brilliant people leave their village, go to town for secondary school then go to another town for university, then stay in town for job. In the process, they are cut off from their villages, and their localities, and when the time of political reckoning has come...it is the people that they see that the grassroots vote for...usually the dull village boy who did not finish school , and stayed home to farm, and went into politics.

Fun story...really happened. One guy from the Northern states was complaining that he had gone into school...got a degree in maths, and could not find job. His mate who had finished primary 6 was a LG COUNCILLOR...and earning big money.

The thing is , our guy with big degrees has been away from the village for so long...that he is out of touch. Meanwhile , his illiterate colleague has been at home...guess who the people would vote for?

Buhari ran for election three times, lost every time, and then tried for no4, and won. To be honest, Osibanjo did not run for any election. He only got into office because Tinubu nominated him (Tinubu too started out as a small time poltical guy for the big men, then grew , supported the right side when needed...and is now big in Buhari's government).

Instead of us educated people complaining about how illiterates are taking over...why don't we leave our air-conditioned offices, and go home, start from scratch, and build our political brand roots up. And be prepared for the long haul. (Part of our problem is military rule messed up our political systems too).

Looks like the bond between these two will forever grow o...
