This is a welcome development. Let the supreme Court settle this issue once and for all and tell us why the North can enjoy privileges that it refuses to allow the South to likewise enjoy. Hisbah is permitted to exist and operate in more than two states in the North (particularly the North West), yet the FG is frowning at Amotekun's regional character. This hypocrisy must end.
supreme Court will end it faster self, regional policing is wrong

Hisbah must be banned if Amotekun is to be banned. Hisbah is worst than Amotekun.

Imagine Nigeria being a secular state, and according to the constitution every Nigerian rights to live, move and work everywhere in Nigeria.

And some people come out and say they are sharia people declare there States sharia states, and according to them as far as u are in there state whether Muslim or not u must act according to the sharia law. Then set up a force to be enforcing it.

How would an organization be arresting non Muslims for eating food during Islamic holidays, how would an organization be arresting non Muslims who take or sell alcohol and be destroying there legitimate businesses?

If they ban Amotekun then Hisbah must go.

That is the way to go.

Do it constitutionally and not in the ways of terrorism.

That's why we love the south west..... everything is not war, trouble, unrest and fight to them.

PreciousJuice:
1. The Kano State Hisbah Board was created through the Kano State Hisbah Board Law No.4 of 2003 and the Kano State Hisbah Board (Amendment) Law No.6 of 2005 by the Kano State House of Assembly, which were duly assented to by the then Governor of Kano State, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau.

Now, what Law created AMOTEKUN, by which House of Assembly, and who assented to it?

2. Under Section 7 of the Law No. 4 of 2003, Hisbah Corps were established with the duties and responsibilities set out under subsection (4) of that section, some of which include:

Rendering necessary assistance to the Police and other Security Agencies especially in the areas of prevention, detention and reporting of offences;

Handling non-fire-arms for self defence like batons, and other non-lethal civil defence instruments;

-Assisting in any other situation that will require the involvement of Hisbah be it preventive or detective.

The Law that established Hisbah Corps was categorical in not allowing them to carry fire arms or any lethal weapons for self defence.

What about AMOTEKUN? What does the law establishing it say, if at all one exists?

3. The Government of Olusegun Obasanjo through the Inspector General of Police Mr. Sunday Ehindero in a press briefing on 7th of February, 2006 declared the Hisbah Law and the operations of the bodies created by the Laws as unconstitutional and illegal.

Is AMOTEKUN even backed by any Law?

4. On 8th February, 2006 the same Inspector General of Police Sunday Ehindero ordered his officers and men to effect the arrest of the Chairman and Commander General of the Hisbah Corps, Mallam Yahaya Farouk Chedi and his Deputy Mallam Abubakar Abdulkareem Rabo. They were arrested in Kano and immediately taken to Abuja where they were detained.

Has any Commander of AMOTEKUN been arrested, despite the fact that they are not backed by any known law and are made to carry fire-arms?

Would the atmosphere not have been more volatile by now if such has happened?

5. The same Government of Olusegun Obasanjo through the Minister of Information, Mr Frank Nweke Jr. in another press briefing made serious allegations that the Hisbah had sought foreign assistance from Libya and Iran for training as a terrorist group.
Whrn it is now backed by law, hope you will keep calm.
I am not yoruba, but i support amotekun

Good move, let the court interprete. Until we challenge government actions in court we may not improve the currently skewed federal system.

The fulani terrorists up North trying to attack the Southwest is the last key that has opened the Pandora's box for self determination in Nigeria. By 2023, we won't be talking elections anymore, or restructuring. We will be talking about 3 new countries in the world: Biafra, Oduduwa Republic and the Boko Haram Caliphate of Arewa cheesy Challenging the Southwest will be Buhari's biggest mistake.

now that every region and tribes are trying to break free from this rubbish called Nigeria which was the biggest mistake the British made as a result of their selfish interest, my region "Niger delta " will not say anything now, this is the best time for us to also start struggling for our right. our governors must unite, and start thinking of the future of Niger delta, there is nothing like one Nigeria, the northerners are using that to deceive Niger delta bcoz of crude oil.

Why going to court and sent him? We have to be wary of some elements on this issue. Federal government not SW or loyal individual should go to court if they are not comfortable
Re: Amotekun: Rights Activist Drags FG, AGF, NASS, Others To Court by Xisnin(m): 12:48pm On Jan 19, 2020
The lawyer should withdraw his case ASAP because it could backfire.
We need Malami to go to the court first, there is a first-mover disadvantage in this case.
Well, with legislation from state assemblies, the suit will become redundant soon.

The so-called lawyer is a surrogate, a proxy of the Hausa-Fulani. You believe his action as a noble cause, you can believe anything. Some lawyers are without integrity. The Americans call them shysters.

I sense something sinister happening to Amotekun this week Buhari had meeting with security chiefs and after which he flew to London. They are cooking something

This is what should have been done snce rather than all of the pointless grandstanding and sabre rattling in the media.

Let the judiciary do its job of interpreting the law and guide all concerned in this matter accordingly.

Since the north has failed to secure the lives of their people, since the north cares less about the lives of their people, since the north doesn't value human life, its expedient for people of like minds to hit them with legal issues. I'm even happy the guy dragging the AGF to court is not a yorubaman lol. Security of human lives shouldn't be treated with kid gloves .
