Then you didn't read the right books. For that whole time while they were waiting for his signature, he was lobbying the Commonwealth nations in an attempt to force the hand of Parliament.

He even tried getting the support of the public by playing the love angle. Parliament had to threaten to go ahead with it before he agreed for the sake of the respect of the crown.

They offered him so many alternatives that it was mindbogglingly that they could wait so long for a decision.

When Edward realized that no one was going to support a twice divorce on the throne, he had no choice but to bow to Parliament.

What I'm trying to get at is that you should not make it sound like he did it because he wanted to. He was very much against abdicating even till the end.

That's why I called him a coward. If he had chosen love over duty, he would have been a brave man, or duty over love too.

But he was like a weasel trying to find a middle ground until he realized everybody wanted yes or no.

To be honest with you with my level of education and with the quality and quantity of reading I do, I don't need to step outside the shore of my country to make reasonable comments on the subject matter on discussion here. Your experience might be necessary for you though, but experience not backed by appropriate level of education and understanding can lead to delusion. We begin to feel qualified to talk about what we don't know in the real sense of it.

The story of Harry didn't just start now. His ordeals can be traced to have its root as far back into the time and life of his mother. There is nothing he is doing that his mother didn't do. And Meghan? Much comments and observations have been made about her relationship with Harry even before they eventually married. You just need an insight to connect the dots.
