I was accused of stealing $10k.
I was on holiday o jejely in my married sister's house.
Hubby traveled and I was practically the guy in the house.
They just believed it couldn't be anybody else, not the nanny, not the house girl, not any foreigner but ME.
Till date they still believe I have the money.

FYI dollar to naira was almost 480/$ at the time.

So sorry bro I can understand how u felt but she own u an apology nd u hv to go back there not because of N200 but u hv to let her realize her mistake, fine, she must have experience alot of things like dat, whereby customer will disappear wit her money but dat doesn't justify her attitude nd accusing an innocent person for crying out if not because of d country we find ourselves u suppose to sue her big time bcoz some people are just bitter nd frustrated for no reason.

During my first test at my university, we were told to draw covalent bonds or something. I drew the bonds in the appropriate area and realized that I made a mistake so I put a note stating that the answer was on the last page. When my test was returned, I noticed that the instructor didn't see the note and informed her. She was adamant and said I put the answers in after the test and she would have to meet with a committee before deciding what to do. I felt scared and embarrassed because it was legit my second week at uni. Moreover, I am not the type of person to do that. I remember thinking my village people followed me to uni cheesy. At the end of the day, she gave me the marks and I ended up being not just the best student in her class but graduated with the highest distinction.

Hello everyone.

Something happened yesterday and up till now I'm still boiling from inside .

Okay, here is what happened. I set out around noon yesterday to get a new phone at Ikeja. While I was about to board a bus to Oshodi where I'd connect with a bus to Ikeja, I saw a glo Sim registration booth. I asked one of the reps when they'd leave, and she said 6 pm. I promised to be back before then to get one. On my way back, around past 5, I went there and started the process. I was told to buy airtime immediately in order for the Sim card to work, which I obliged, and told them I'd buy #200 worth.

Immediately I collected my pack, I gave another lady who works with them and sells airtime #200. She collected my card, put it in her phone, loaded it and handed my Sim back to me. I thanked her and was about to leave when she stopped me and asked that I pay her for the recharge card. When I told her I had paid already, she erupted like a volcano. She began to raise her voice that passers-by stopped and began to watch us, she called me all sorts of names, 'Thief' being the most subtle of them. Her stance when I dared leave, and leave her to her ramblings, was that of a woman who would hold a man's collar and decorate his face with prints from hot slaps. She maintained I would not leave until I pay her, despite the fact that her colleagues asked me to go. I was so embarrassed. #200 was and is not my problem, I just didn't want to san'wo omo go. Last last I had to give her another #200 before she quieted down and allowed me to leave.

Later in the evening, when I got home I put the Sim in my phone, and the first call I got was from the said lady's colleague calling me to apologise on her behalf. She said immediately I left, she saw the money and she's ashamed of herself and couldn't bring herself to calling me and telling me herself, that's she's indeed sorry... Blah! Blah!! Blah!!!

She said I should come back on Monday to get the money. I told her I don't need the money again.

As I'm typing this, I'm so angry... Even with the apology and the offer to get my money back, I still feel cheated. Some of the people who witnessed our little drama would definitely not be there when she found the money. To them I might as well be what she painted me to be.

How did I do? Was I right to turn down the reimbursement? How should I have reacted? If you were in my shoes how would you have reacted?

You did the right thing.Thank God you were vindicated eventually.
I was once accused, till date I still feel the pain. This happened in 1986. I borrowed a novel from a classmate and when I returned it she claimed she left her money in it. I was so schocked and embarrased that the only thing I could say or do was to cry. The whole class was just looking at me as if I was a thief.

During my university days in UNN I was almost lynched by a group of guys in one group known as Joyful Family. because the phone I sold to a friend of mine looked like flavas phone., apparently it had cracks at the same place his phone did before it was stolen from him....

Till today whenever i remember that day I get goosebumps.
....
Flava. I'm not sure I will be able to forget that name ever.

Yes I have. Took a teaching job the year I graduated from school and was doing that while awaiting my nysc. Now those kids loved me so much and as such, they were very much interested in coming to school and this made their academic performance wonderful. Meanwhile, the woman teaching the other arm of the class was struggling with her own kids. Now, my class came first in all the interclass subject quizzes for the three terms. Next thing I know, the woman said I was having an affair with the head teacher that's y my kids were doing so well (how it relates to that, I never understood).

Now when the third term exams began, as usual she was to invigilate my class and mark my class scripts while I did hers. After about 3days into the exam, this woman reported me to the school management that I was having access to exam questions before time(exams that are being set from Lagos and sent to the principal o). I ignored her but to my surprise, the school management believed her.
Only for me to get to work the next day and discover that they sent a panel to investigate me all the way from their branch in Lagos. They removed me from their primary section and sent me to invigilate the secondary pending when the investigation will be over. They seized my class scripts and were calling my kids one after the order daily to ask them questions. It was so embarrassing because everyone avoided me like a leper. At the end of the day, the investigation was abandoned half way and the session came to an end. I never got to clear my name till I left them.

6 years ago, during my waec exams, last paper for that matter and simple agric science .
I was accused of impersonation even with the waec ID card the idiot invigilator from hope wadell came to my school and my school principal never liked anything that involved paying invigilator for his students to write freely i think this man got frustrated that nothing came out of us.
He asked me to leave the hall and threatened to call police that where outside, innocent me heard police and got weak.
I told my principal and he came with the photobook and showed this invigilator yet he still insisted i wasn't the one. After begging from my teachers he let me finish the exams like nothing happened or he let go of the issue only for results to come out and mine was showing withheld.
I reported to cross River branch and they said there's nothing they can do,
Imagine without evidence they did that to me, i got admission into radiography i applied for hoping there would be a change nothing, and the neco i had a D in chemistry i felt let down, had to forfeit the admission and spend another year at home.
That accusation changed the path of my life.
What i aught to do was changed to something else, i rained curse on that man a year after.

Even with biometrics that they took they couldn't even verify.
Writing this now i realize how i was cheated and if the judicial system wasn't as frustrating, i would've sued the idiots.

You should have told them to send #200 card

Back in the ol' days, I was at a Globacom concert with 3 of my road dawgs. We called ourselves 'the Goodfellas', i think we were in 300 level.

Among the people seated in the row before ours was a young lady and a guy we presumed to be her boyfriend. Suddenly, she started searching herself then exclaimed that her Glo recharge card was missing. After another round of searching, she declared the card stolen, turned around and started raining abuses on the four of us. This went on for hours and the least insulting word she used was thieves. Her yeye boyfriend even had the audacity to place a curse on whoever stole the card. We were so embarrassed and angry because we were sure that the culprit wasn't among us.

As the concert came to an end, accuser and boyfriend got up to leave and lo and behold, the missing card fell from somewhere...I think it was caught up in her dress. She started apologizing, I was too relieved to stay angry but De Niro was having none of the apologies. I had to physically restrain him from hitting the lady.

The unapologetic boyfriend, instead of borrowing sense and disappearing with his woman, stepped in to defend her. Omo I free De Niro o, everywhere bust in 5 seconds. Dem beat the guy so tey the girl leave am run.

NB: a recharge card was a big deal in those days. The lowest denomination was #750 I think.

One evening like that, I alighted from a bus to buy bread and continue my journey home. Earlier in the afternoon I withdrew 5k one thousand naira note from the ATM. Then I paid the bus conductor with the only 50 naira I have left.

So I only had on me 5k.

I went to a shop where they are selling bread. I picked 1 of 500 naira and handed the lady 1k. She then stretched her hands into the other side of her apron to bring out waterproof. After she out the bread in the wateproof, I asked her for my change.

That's where trouble started!

She claimed I have not paid her. I was schocked and the same time angry.

She began to raise her voice which drew attention. Not longer after, the owner of the shop came and I explained to him and even showed him the debit alert on my phone and the balance of 4k with me. The dude believed her sales rep More than me. He instead suggested I pay 250 for the bread while they bear the loss of 250. Meanwhile my 1k is gone.

I later left them and my money and went home.

The anger was choking.

Yes o, I can never forget
In my primary 6, I was accused of giving someone my assignment to do for me, when I denied it she told me to repeat what I wrote in the same handwriting and of course I couldn't (I was forced to do my assignment before eating), that was how this woman Mrs Okereke carried me to every class calling me a liar, I picked pin the whole day and she also excommunicated me.

Words can't describe how terrible that week was for me, I've forgiven her though.

My own ordeal got me 3 weeks in Awaiting trial section in Ikoyi Maximum Prison before being bailed.

I just lost close to a million in a business, was devastated and suicidal. In other to keep me busy my pastor attached me to an elder of the church who just started a Community bank as a cashier.

The elder was just spending all deposits for his personal stuffs, after 6 months of no salary and with all others staffs gone for non payment, I also gave my resignation letter to the Manager and left, having no knowledge that the manager also resigned after I left.

Two weeks later, The elder showed up at my door with police, accusing me and the manager of stealing all the money.

The case went to court and we got remanded, bailed and a year later we were freed when I showed where I documented his spendings in the copy of the banks ledger.

He didn't show up at court again since then when he was asked to bring the original ledger to court. He packed away from his residence and didn't show up again till case was dismissed a year later.

Seeing this brought back a very sad memory in my life,I just pray I overcome it someday. It was 2weeks to my final papers. The treasurer of my department then brought about 28k to the lecture room. I was to have a show the following day,so I was late for the class. We had 3roles in my LT, the guy with the money sat on the first role,I sat the the end of the second role.
After the lecture, the lecturer called me and I went out with him, suddenly, we heard some money was missing. To cut the story short, they went as far as going to an herbalist and they were told the thief was among us in the class that evening, but he didn't mention the person. Because we wanted to know, they brought a guy who uses key and Bible to tell who is the thief was,I was accused to have stolen the money.

I was shocked, there and then,my friends started deserting me. A guy that even attend my fellowship then, that we seat together in church even said he knew I was the thief, because I had over 50k in my account, but will always say I don't have money anytime he want to borrow money. Till this day,it is only me that no j didn't steal that money. Some knew I wasn't,but couldn't come out to defend me.

It will be 4, years by November 3rd 2020. I still pray date that God should reveal the person who did it. I have friends anymore because I am even scared to make new ones. It was a painful experience, I have moved on,but the stigma is still there.

I remember during my 200l days, I was accused of stealing my neighbor's phone. All suspicions traced to me as i was the last person to touch the phone. He didn't take it lightly. He had me arrested. The phone then was one cheap kpalasa like that. (Flip up- Bird). That's the first time ever I would sleep in a cell. I was disappointed in my parents having to find out so I didn't inform them on time. After 5days, I had no choice than to tell my roommate to inform my parents. My father didn't even show up. Only my mom did. She swore heaven and earth that her child would never engage in such act. Eventually, the case ended after my mom bought my neighbor a new phone and all that.

10 years later, my roommate confessed to stealing the phone, my money and several foodstuffs. I just weak.
