connection speaks volumes , no need for long talk

It's a wrong way to think tho
.even tho in SOME cases, this is true

Without the right attitude or mindset
Connection will not even save you

Except you are a civil servant

i don't know sounds daft to me. I'll prefer a response like this, "I have little knowledge of that, but very familiar with (something close to the original answer, something you know in toto). " Followed by explanation on the one you know.

In other words
You are bringing subjectivity into this

Some HR guys may take it as a sign of honesty and hire the person
While pulling the rug off the feet of the ITK

Just saying

someone actually got a top management job by simply answering that she doesnt have an idea of about the question. They said the question wasnt correct and the rest tried to answer it but she was offered the job because she was true to herself and stands out

No I am not oh..... At the initial stage I was scared (you know that situation , you have up to 4 people interviewing you). However, it got to a point I got comfortable cos it was interactive (like it became more of a discussion, and I knew I could do the job well).

For this you can give a range or try to drag around by saying you believe that the firm has budget for the role if filled by a graduate..... To be honest most people find this part difficult, I even had to look up possible answers on this via YouTube, lol.

Nice write up op. I recently went for an interview and I was asked when I could resume to which I replied 1st March which is 6 weeks from the day I did the interview. After I returned home and I was speaking to someone about it the person told me it's too far that I should have given a shorter time and I have been a bit worried over my chances of still getting the job and again when it came to the money aspect I told them I wanted to earn double of what I am currently earning something they never objected against. Also, when I was asked if I could work anywhere in the country I said yes. Pls what's ur view on all these points and what r my chances of landing the job cos it's my dream job and I will be very happy if I can land it.

Connection plays a critical role in employment, not only in Nigeria. But that does not mean that those without connection cannot get jobs. With this mindset, one will not even get the jobs that do not require any form of connection.
Yes it does, but I have come to realize it is a Nigerian mentality. The only connection you need are God and LinkedIn, anything more is just jara.
Out here in the UAE, you dont need to know anyone in as much as you know your craft and you can defend your certificate, thats all. I too used to think like that until a company recruited me out of Nigeria. And trust me, I dont know anyone in this country not to talk of the company.
Prayer and your books is the key. In Nigeria, maybe and that is because the candidates are more than the job, in a situation where the jobs are more than the candidates, you will get multiple jobs sef.

The list is not exhaustive. Kindly add yours, if you know any other thing one should not say at an interview.

That what does your company do, well maybe if you seeking employment in shell or other multinationals but as far as local companies who also do interviews, none of them get website or whatever and you can't know shit till you go for their interview

Don't mind them. Imagine a friend, a political science graduate, asking me how he could get federal government job without connection. I just laughed and said: "you need to start a small business while waiting for a job that might never come".

Look the interviewer in his/her eyes(not rudely oh)...... Employer's want someone who is assertive.

For the "tell me about yourself ".....try see if you can say stuffs about yourself, without looking at the ceiling(go practice this now, if you haven't).

Goodluck!
