Rent Payment: Monthly Vs Yearly by Olhomes(op): 5:22pm On Jan 21, 2020
It's so common to see many people, especially in Europe, US or Canada paying rent on a monthly basis. Whereas in Nigeria, most people pay yearly

Would you prefer to pay your rent monthly or yearly?
Landlords, would you prefer to accept rents monthly or yearly, too?

Re: Rent Payment: Monthly Vs Yearly by dryakson(m): 1:27pm On Jan 22, 2020
Nigerian landlords prefer the yearly. Some even go as far as demanding for 3 years just to trap the tenant.

It shall be well with us last last.

Sure even landlords would accept monthly but Nigerians and their usual wise life styles will always spoil every agreement grin

By the way it is not right to compare Africa or Nigeria to europe or America cox one single room rent in europe alone is like 4 or five months rent in lekki phase 2. So even Europeans can not afford to pay rent yearly huh
Re: Rent Payment: Monthly Vs Yearly by krissconnect(m): 1:27pm On Jan 22, 2020

Yearly is way better cos of stress of asking for money every month

Like going after a debtor but every month

#TeamMonthly.
This is only logical in life.
It makes life easier and you can plan adequately.
Are we the only ones that do that in Nigeria?(3 months actually!)
Or we have some Nigerians like us?

This is one thing we should be asking our government as citizens.
But in our darling country what some people ask their government is why is the President's daughter entering the presidential plane for an assignment?
Misplaced priority!

One day, we will get there as a nation.

As a landlord, I ll never accept monthly tenants. They will never pay nothing but stories.
Re: Rent Payment: Monthly Vs Yearly by Giddiebabalaw(m): 1:28pm On Jan 22, 2020
People are paid hourly there and they can afford to pay rent monthly...Here the monthly salary is not even stable hence yearly payment
Re: Rent Payment: Monthly Vs Yearly by solmusdesigns:
cool

Thats because what you pay for rent in US and Europe for a month is almost what you rent a house for a year, but i prefer quarterly

.

For a working person, especially those on fixed incomes... But, paying twice a year (6-monthly basis) would be more convenient for both landlord and tenant!!!

Neither
Re: Rent Payment: Monthly Vs Yearly by axglide(m): 1:30pm On Jan 22, 2020
Every landlord would have preferred monthly, but due to the circumstances on ground in Nigeria, even yearly they pay like 3 months after the year has expired talk less of monthly.

Come to think about it? how are salaries paid in Europe and North America? Here it's end on month things. Maybe the salaries coming in at the end of the month makes yearly attractive.
Re: Rent Payment: Monthly Vs Yearly by MISTAICEY02288(m): 1:30pm On Jan 22, 2020
Hmmm nice topic. This question has even been in ma mind sef.. Why is it that rents are paid yearly in Naija? It's usually paid monthly abroad. Na for Naija the landlord go don collect the whole payment finish at once then when e spend am finish, e go come begin dey kanra for tenant anyhow... grin cheesy
Re: Rent Payment: Monthly Vs Yearly by illuminaty(m): 1:30pm On Jan 22, 2020
yearly will be a better option for both parties...the landlord gets his/her money in bulk to do something meaningful with it while the Tennant pays once a year and focus on something else for the remaining part of the year
