CaveAdullam:I used to think the Nigerian Government was unfair during the war based on the hearsays but I had a sudden turn around about the whole thing when I dug deeper just to know the truth. I was born in the West and lived in the East for four years. An interesting thing worthy of note is that a young Igbo dude who has never been to the West and probably never encountered a Yoruba man before will cleanly profile and tell you about the nature of the Yoruba man. It wasn't too long that I figured that imaginary truths are being handed down from generation to generation. The claim is that the Yorubas betrayed the East during the war as Awolowo promised them soldiers. Awolowo wasn't even in the military! Oil was the primary reason for the war. The orchestrated coup was a 'take our destiny into our hands kind of coup. I'll do a detailed thread that will include videos and not narratives from any Nigerian. Videos of Brits and Americans who captured the moment and what went down, as well as their opinions. The unholy alliance of the North and South started with Azikiwe, just to spite the Western region. The latter just became a political savvy overnight and mastered the game better than its originator. |

Some many kids and weed smokers on Nairaland people with little knowledge of history.. During the first republic of Tafewa Beluwa Nigeria only has 3 regions what is know as South South and South East today, was know then as south eastern, so it really dont mean is igbo, since Nigeria only had just 3 regions then |

So essentially, it was the Brits that imposed it! If the others were resolute, there is no way the Brits would have arrested them. You're just given false narratives to suit their cowardice! You said seccession and referendum clauses were not included in the constitution but a referendum was done in 1963 to create midwest region! Area4Area: |

sultanodudua:I had been Yeske!, later yeske2 (both pro Biafra), later yyeske and now area4area (anti IPOB and Biafra for obvious reasons). I don't use others. You busted yourself and not me or you open another thread for my case and stop derailing this thread. You even sound like that Malawian noise maker |

celeiyke:Aba is the dirtiest city in the world Onitscha(probably the biggest city in your erosion ravaged region) has the worst air in the world. Even Azikwe (who is the root of your current predicament) ran away to contest for election in SW.... That's why I wouldn't blame those guys migrating to other parts of Nigeria... If Azikwe can jaapaa why would the followers too not japaa from the cursed region. The dream of every ibo is to travel to SW.

AstroG:God bless you for this piece. This is nothing but the truth. After the general election of 1959 the North needed 172 seats out of the 312 seats in order to rule Nigeria. They decided to form a coalition with zik who gladly accepted. Earlier on awolowo had approached zik for a coalition which zik agreed on ,only for him to later reneged on it. To be truthful awolowo started tribal politics in the west and zik felt betrayed, only for him to take his pound of f!esh in 1959. Zik thought that alliance with the gullible north is better than the wise west. Thus the marriage of two strangers. Ironically the region being marginalised today is the remote cause of what Nigeria is experiencing today. |

celeiyke:E pain am, they hate the truth. We ain't benefiting anything from Igbos mass presence in SW apart from the meagre tax paid by 2x2 shop owners. The Igbo dominated sector; prostitution is tax free, if only the govt. Can legalize prostitution..... Imagine the huge revenue the 6 states would generate from millions of Igbo prostitutes.
