Leicester City coach Brendan Rodgers reserved special praise for Kelechi Iheanacho in the wake of their 1-0 victory against Brentford in the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday afternoon. Four minutes into the contest at Griffin Park, the Nigeria international converted from close range after the ball was put on a plate by James Justin. With seven goals in 12 appearances and four assists to go with it, Rodgers acknowledged that Iheanacho is in red-hot form and explained he took him off after 67 minutes with an eye on the upcoming Carabao Cup clash against Aston Villa. Speaking to reporters post-match, Rodgers said : "Kels, he’s getting better and better. He’s so efficient now in his game, working so hard, he creates goals and scores goals. I’m delighted for him. "[Tuesday] was something that we had to think about in the game. We had to think about Kels and the possibility of him playing on Tuesday. "[Vardy] has responded well to treatment. We’ll find out more tomorrow [Sunday]". Fit again Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi was given a rest and wasn't included in the matchday 18 vs Brentford. |
