OP. I guess you mean indigenous species and not endemic. Endemic is used for diseases.

I don't think that will be from the venom. Probably the injury. From what I read, they normally dodge the snake strikes and bite it repeatedly until it is too injured and tired to fight, then they finish it off.

The commentator also said it released venom into the snake.
