Entered an Uber sometime ago in London with my sister who lives here. We were taking my dad to the hospital.

The Uber guy arrived, he was black, very professional and dropped us off at the hospital.

After we finished at the hospital, we called an Uber and he showed up. His Uber accepts wheelchairs and they are rare. Before he came, I told my sister that the guy must be Jamaican.

She said no. That his name is Remi. I said he was probably born here. She said kids born here to Nigerian parents wouldn't be driving an Uber. That's the kind of work immigrants do. That he's most likely an immigrant.

When we were all in the car, I had problems putting on my seat belts. My sister asked whether there are no seat belts in Nigeria and the guy replied there was none. He suddenly let out some of his bottled up anger that he'd probably been dying to release.

He said he read geology from Ogun state university and finished in 1989. He couldn't find a job and just came visiting the U.K and then soon found work. It wasn't what he planned. He got married to his college sweetheart who was 2 years his uni junior. Once his first child came, he was stuck in the UK. He now has 3.

He said his first son works for an investment bank in their mergers and acquisitions unit. He was initially offered a post in pensions but he turned it down and he thought his son was mad. Now, or of course, the kid is doing well.

Maybe, the boy too will buy him a house.

Anyway, the silly man is waiting for the last born to finish and get his own place so he'll be free.
