Don't Ban Okada, Keke Without Providing Alternatives by atmstyle(op):
The Lagos State Government wants to ban okada and keke. This is because a lot of them drive carelessly, causing accidents.

Attempts to get them to drive more carefully have been largely ignored by many okada and keke drivers.

But banning okada and keke without providing alternative means of livelihood is not advisable.

An okada man speaking to BBC on the issue asked, and I paraphrase: if the thousands of okada and keke drivers [who have thousands of mouths to feed] are banned, how will it be?

That question to me, is food for thought.

Government is there to take care of all as much as possible/appropriate in order to prevent the disadvantages of rising unemployment.

Oga, if someone brings 700k tricycle for you to buy at 100k for business, will you buy?

Look at what Adams Oshiomhole did years ago as Governor of Edo State. As he was banning okada, he was providing the okada riders with keke, so that they don't become unemployed...

There should be enough buses and cabs to replace them, so that Lagosians don't bear the brunt.

Which government?

Lagos state government?

Lagos is the smallest state in the country
The whole country cannot export its unemployment problem to Lagos

Everyone cannot migrate to Lagos to ride okada.
Lagos state government is not responsible for providing employment for the country
