I think this ban is a good thing in disguise for Nigeria, what is the marginal benefits of Nigerians traveling to America to Nigerian economy? The privileged Nigerians traveling to America are probably taking their manpower and skills and money to the country. No one should castigate Nigerian president for this, Trump is known for his irrational foreign policy, all he cares about is bringing money to America, no international diplomacy of any sort. Imagine Trump's trade secretary Will Brow saying the current coronavirus in China is a good thing for America because it will help bring more jobs to American economy, how nihilistic can people be because of economic gains? Nigerians should sit their asses up and start working together for common good, and stop blaming government for everything. China, even despite a communist state it is, is not where China is today because of Chinese government but for the commitment and contribution of each Chinese people to their country. This "it is not my business" attitude by Nigerians will not take Nigeria anywhere, now it is your business when your country is banned from entering the USA. This is an opportunity for self reflection for Nigerians to sit back and ask the question why they think it is only by traveling out of the country they can achieve a good life for themselves. Then they can start seeing where the problem is coming from and owning up for their country downfall and not putting the blame on government. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

[s] mvem:[/s] I love the ban. there are many rich men in Nigeria today who give no damn about visiting another person's country. I don't give any damn about USA or any useless country I can get killed at any fvcking time so the ban for all Nigerians both elites and poor is a welcome development, I wish other countries can follow suit, they should all ban Nigerians from entering their country so that we can stone this useless leaders as instructed by Tony momoh whenever they failed we overlook these useless leaders misgoverned because of alternative to jaapa, if this can be ban, we will sit our ass up I love the ban 5 Likes 1 Share |

CastingCrowns:Actually most Nigerians can and use/buy such products daily....despite bing the poverty capital of the world Nigeria has a strong market setting that has been defying analytics since the early 90's. The major reason we are poverty capital of the world is because a large set of the population live below the dollar standard per day....but that is majorly in the north because let's face it that's where we have the largest population size in Nigeria with little development to support their size.....Nigerians actually have a lot of money under the bed....spending it lavishly is hard for Nigerians but we do spend enough to keep those companies Interested in our Markets. Nigerians spend about 300billion year on year shopping from abroad. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Jaqenhghar: Was that what he was trying to say there? Of course I agree. I have already argued elsewhere on this forum that Nigeria doesn't really have much economic clout with the US. I mean, just check it out. We can't even fix electricity in Nigeria. When I said it sounds good, I meant it was time to show some form of independence and a sense of pride. Perception matters. They ban you from entering their country for immigration, it just won't do to crawl in a corner and sulk or cry all day. At least show that we aren't wimps. It doesn't matter for now if it'll not have any tangible effect on the US. It's just a gesture. A strong one too. You might be surprised by the outcome. Many many years ago, China turned its back to the world and locked her doors. Then worked on herself quietly but determinedly. Then, when she opened the doors to host an Olympic, everyone gasped at the sight of the pretty lady called China. Nigeria should do the same. We need to look inwards and stop shamelessly courting all these world powers. We don't need their aids. We should rise from being beggars. 3 Likes 1 Share |
