These keke people were a total and complete Nuisance. They constituted a whole lot of mess in Lagos.

Does Okada ride in Tokyo, Japan, Beijing, Berlin or New York?

Even, is Okada in Onitsha? Why would Okada be allowed in Ikeja the seat of government?

For those saying crime rate will increase, thats unless Lagos state government is clueless and stuppid. Sanwo Olu is smart though as far as I know and a very hardworking governor. You can deny this if you want... But the heavy volume of work going on Lagos roads speaks for itself.

Obiano the drunkard (My state Governor Onye Onwu Nkwu) banned Okada in Anambra. Did heavens fall? Rochas even went to the extent of banning keke in the entire state. Did crime rate increase? Was okada not banned in Nnewi even with the rate of billionaire Okada importers from that axis? Did anybody die?

What most of you don't know is that Nigeriens, Chadians, Sudanese, Malians and Somalians took over South West without anybody knowing! It was gradual, crude and definite.... But they were almost succeeding before I believe Sanwo Olu stepped in. At a time, I was asking myself if there is no regulatory body managing these people in Lagos anymore.

They virtually took over Lagos with there stuppid, crazy and mannerless style of driving. They felt like Lords of the city and if you try to caution them, they will bow there heads in foolishness to thank you. But in there hearts, they were calling you Mumu after scratching your car.

What is Keke doing in Victoria Island the financial and industrial hub of Lagos? Who even brought this useless and worthless contraption called Keke to Nigeria? India that manufactures these nonsense made moves to regulate them.

Google Indian roads and see how organized keke driving is. But in Lagos, its madness! They will keep on creating multiple lanes that cause traffic, scratching peoples car with no mercy, hitting pedestrians with reckless abandon while using there Okada and useless keke to rob at night!

I ask again, is Lagos no longer a city? Why is there no Okada in Tokyo, Japan, Beijing, Berlin, Stuttgart, Dubai, Osaka, Chicago or New York?

Sanwo Olu if you are reading this, its not much about making these laws. Its about enacting and enforcing these laws! Enforce the ban and see sanity return to Lagos! But do make available more organized and well tailored Public system of transportation and movement! If Eastern Governors banned Keke and Okada and heavens did not fall, NOTHING DO YOU.

cc

NB

By the way if you are a Lagosian driver reading this be it commercial or private, please always be road disciplined when driving! Stick to your lane for crying out loud and stop maneuvering like a morron. All of us will get there. E.g is Oba Akran enroute Ikeja bridge. If you know you are climbing the bridge, stick to the left. If you are going under bridge, stick to the right! The mouth or entrance of the bridge can only take one car. Stop tail gating! Don't create multiple lanes and then try to merge at the mouth of the bridge. Thats very stuppid and morronic in my opinion. As you go to the mouth of the bridge to drag it with the rightful owners, you end up defeating the purpose for which you created the muliple lanes! More traffic build up and more hold up!

That aside and For those quoting me and saying "Why am I working and investing in Lagos and why not the East"... My answer is very simple.

Lagos gave my life some meaning that our five hopeless Eastern Governors never gave me. Infact, Sanwo Olus government has been so good to Mainland Lagos where I do busines. Why would I hate him? Why bite fingers that is trying to give my life a meaning? Infact, more of Gods blessings and protection on him as I believe he is taking Lagos to its original plan which in my opinion, AMBODE ABANDONED.

You're talking like this because u have a car

Have u thought about how people will transport their selves to work on Monday?
Is it all route that danfo buses can pass through?
What of the thousands that will be rendered jobless, will u give them money when responsibilities start knocking?

Learn to be considerate at times.
Not everyone has a car like u

daezeangel:

I agree with you completely but the problem remains. How do I get to work tomorrow? How do I get home? My office is at Ligali Ayorinde, V.I. I usually get to Eko hotel round about then take keke to Ligali, there's no other means of transportation. Same story after work ... so how the heck am I supposed to get to work 2morrow...

Every other thing you wrote made sense until ''Lagos gave your life meaning bla bla bla..''.
I was doing fantastically well in Lagos too but I relocated to my Igbo state and now doing larger things. When I build a plaza or 3-storey commercial building, you get your cash en bloc and have rest of mind that when you die, your children will not lose those property to tribal hatred. And because you fear your Innocent uncle in the village is not enough to remain in another man's land. Lagos belongs to Yorubas! My town's guy lost his 50-room hotel building in Borno and he's now playing ''Draft game'' in the village. Recently, one Odunukwe who imported FIRMAN generators wanted to sell his #900 million property and relocate to Igbo land, he was surreptitiously killed like a Chicken. Igbos have the highest purchasing power in this country, so ignore governors that will come and go and invest home. Is Ebonyi governor not doing roads and other infrastructure? Go to Ebonyi and you'll begin to appreciate the Abakaliki people you once thought are underdogs. Just change your thinking! I'm not preaching you but I was reasoning like you before.

By his kinsmen.

you guys make a mistake of putting beauty of environment as priority as against humanity. What happens to the families of the millions that has just been rendered jobless by this small move? Do you know how many children that will drop out of school because of this?

Let's have love of humanity in our hearts first before anything. Nobody will love to do okada or Keke work everyday if they have jobs.

If we are to compare Lagos with Tokyo and newyork, does Lagos have well organised subway system? Are there functional high speed trains? What about monorails and trams? Are there jobs? What about social security, access to credit and business support system?

Bottom line, before the government brings a policy that will in one swoop render over a million people jobless, they should ensure the society is working.

These people are trying against all odds to put food of their table, and the same government that destroyed the society is still the same one opposing them. This Is sad.

Dont put beauty of the state before humanity.

How can this move u from a to b? That is the question!

As a totally unbiased observer and non-Ibo, I dedicate this FTC to the Supreme Court for being totally SHAMELESS.
Here is a judgment they recently rendered. I wonder what they take Nigerians for!

Vanguard. Tuesday, January 28, 2020
Imo Guber: How Supreme court erred in computation of results

*Declared more votes than accredited voters
*Failed to interrogate petitioners’ evidence
*Avoided mentioning figures in a written judgment

Facts have emerged that the Supreme Court failed to do a thorough mathematical computation of the results of the election but relied only on the wrong computations submitted by Sen. Hope Uzodinma to declare him the duly-elected governor of Imo State...

Both the EPT and the Appeal Court dismissed the petition for lacking in merit.

By relying on the faulty tabulation made by Sen. Uzodinma, the Supreme Court arrived at a figure of 950,952 total votes cast at the election, which is more than the total votes cast at the election totalling 823,743.

This gave rise to 127,209 excess votes at the election as affirmed by the Supreme Court, which all through avoided mentioning figures regarding the votes cast for the disputants or the total registered voters and valid and invalid votes in the judgment.

There were buses screaming opebi Allen roundabout for ages, these kekes and bikes took them out. It will be a renaissance for them. There is no vacuum in nature. Also if weather is favourable you can trek from Olowu to Unity and Toyin street .Voilla, you are at Opebi roundabout. I did that as a teenager and will pocket the transport fare given to me to run errands.

You have valid points.
But as an Economist when I see people compare Nigeria (underdeveloped country) to very developed countries like Japan, I laugh in Swahili. My goodness, Japan has the least unemployment rates in the world, most income distributive country with almost 100 percent literacy level. and poverty rate is almost near zero.

You are totally ignorant bro. These statistics play enormous role in any country. Therefore when making policy, peculiarity should be taken into cognizance. Think about the literacy rate in Nigeria which is not up to 30%, so people tend to act like idiots. High poverty rate which makes people do all sorts of menial jobs to survive. soon they will begin riding tyres in the streets of Lagos, like we did when we were kids, just because they are jobless. lol

When it comes to income distribution in Nigeria, my goodness the gap between the poor and the rich is so so wide and yet the govt dont make any policy to close this gap rather they want to wipe out these poor people who make up 90 percent of the population, what idiocy.

You chase them out of Lagos, fine, they relocate or re-strategise to come back to constitute nuisance in another level. Go to VI and Lekki, they roam the streets or put up shanties and they become another threat to those rich trying to chase them away. Mind you, a rich man will never know peace in the midst of very poor people. There comes a time when these poor you chase away cant take it anymore, they revolt and attack the rich, its called revolution.

You think heaven will not fall when you chase them away, but you havent solved the problem. Has there been a time in. Nigeria history that crime has risen to this level? They kill, rape, kidnap and attack people with reckless abandon in all corners of the state. These are the Okada and Keke you chased away coming after the rich.

The solution is not banning Okada nor Keke,

The solution lies in banning unemployment and chasing away poverty, and not banning and chasing okada and keke away. When people have decent jobs to do and poverty is low, my brother the nuisance will stop. No rich person wan ride okada or Keke.

In the mean time, govt should create robust and sincere smart employment policies to curb the menace so that when these people troop into Lagos, they find work and not find Okada or Keke to ride.

And do you know the most annoying part some people will be blaming the western world for neocolonialism holding down/back the country from meaningful development.

Baba where can I buy your kind of wisdom eh?

Reckless driving is the first and only cause of accident in Nigeria. If a particular stretch of road is bad, YOU DRIVE ACCORDING TO ROAD CONDITIONS.

Lagos is tired of taking off the burden of 35 other states and the governors

Only 700,000 people out of 4.5m taxable adults pay taxes in Lagos state. 2% of the population carrying the burden of 20m people. You want roads, healthcare, housing, rail then again Lagos must create alternatives which includes shelter and employment for people who troop in daily
what about the levies agberos all over Lagos collect from drivers in almost all public buses in Lagos, is it accounted for in the reservoir of Lagos council

you guys make a mistake of putting beauty of environment as priority as against humanity.

You are making a very big mistake. Those guys doing Okada and Napep had jobs but out of laziness and pure greed, they opt out of their job for Okada and Napep cos they can charge N200 from here to there and make more...

Where I was living before around Oworo, I know of Tailors, vulcanizer and all that dropped their job for Okada riding... Even a guy stopped selling Tokunbo tyres for Napep on the Highland..

Guy, they will think twice. Kudos Sanwo Eko

you are doin balnket judgment of all bike riders. There are responsible ones along them and I'm sure the good ones are more than the bad. Even the bad can be regulated

Please visit Lasuth and let’s have a discussion there after. You think the government decision isn’t informed by information at their disposal?
