Thank you so much sir for your kind, valuable response. Please I'll like to respond as thus:

(1) I've tried registering on Researchgate often times before now, but I'm always being rejected, saying I need an institution email in order to join the platform. Can you help me via an invite to join?

Send me your email address (find my email in my signature), I will send you an invite that will allow Researchgate to accept your application.

(2) For the search on ScienceDirect and GoogleScholar you recommended, is it to get a topic to research and write article on?

To find topics and understand the article writing styles, challenges that need solutions and literature review.

(3) My undergraduate project topic was "Economic Analysis of an Oil Rim Reservoir in the Niger Delta." It was actually about an oil rim reservoir that was produced (on simulation) using two production methods. The simulation was done using a Petroleum Engineering simulation software called Eclipse (owned by Schlumberger). Economic analysis was done on the two methods of production using some key economic parameters, and the one that's more profitable was recommended to be used to properly develop and produce the reservoir. Although, when my supervisor then approved the final chapter, he said I didn't do any investigation (I didn't even understand him). My specialty is Reservoir Engineering. Moreso, I did a project on "PVT Analysis of an Oil Condensate Reservoir" during my fourth year IT at Shell, Port-Harcourt.
As regards access to a lab, I don't know if my department will allow anyone who's not undergoing any studies with them to access their lab. But we have Shell Professorial Chair in my school headed by the only professor in my department. I know I can always interact with one of the guys working with the professor to get some Petroleum Engineering simulation softwares.

If your results are great, discussions and trend are worthy, then find a suitable journal to publish your findings.

(4) My programming skill set include HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ReactJS, PHP, MySQL, MongoDB, NodeJS, Java, Python, C# and C. But currently, I'm trying to build my online portfolio. I believe it'll help boost my CV. I've also developed interest in Data Analysis/Data Science, and I've started gathering resources to help me on it. I was glad to know that most mathematical backbone of Data Science was among the maths courses I did in my undergraduate days, and maths is one of my strengths.

Fantastic, all those skills you have are needed these days. So let me tell you how I use those skills (my personal case). With my C#, python and MySQL skills:
1. I have designed a custom chemical database that searches FTIR (surface functional groups) and XRD (X-ray diffraction) peaks in unknown material and compare with well-known and reported material. This is currently in use in my department and customized commercially for two relatively new universities within my region.

2. I work a lot on wastewater treatment which requires heavy calculations on adsorption kinetics and isotherms. I have used C#, python and excel macros to build a personal software that does these calculations within 5 minutes, unlike the manual that takes weeks. Is currently being test-run by my PhD students to ensure all is fine. Then, I will share with related scientists in my field before going commercial.

3. Working on electrochemical biosensors for detection of analytes in food, wastes, sweat, water etc. I am designing a mobile-enabled app using Xamarin and Flutter on this. The sensors are expected to also go commercial and our focus on this is developing countries that are suffering from contaminants like Arsenic in Bangladesh, food poisonings etc and with a target of 1.5$ per sensor will likely strike a deal with UN, UNICEF, WHO and this will go commercial. We have collected over 1000 data from sites in Canada (the project is funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada).

My advice to you: With python, try to enhance your machine learning skills and interface it with artificial intelligence this is hotcake anywhere. With your C#. python and database skills: try design both desktop and mobile apps that will allow researchers to compare some unknown target to established target, you can also design a visualization software like GraphPad this is hotcake and many will buy it if is worthy.

(5) Sir, what if I decide to do the Master's degree without scholarships and very limited funds? Will I be able to survive with the students' part-time jobs available? I hope international students can work part-time jobs in most American and European countries legally? I'm a dogged person, and I like abiding by laws of the land. Why I'm asking about this is because I like considering every scenario (both best and worst cases i.e with and without scholarships) in my dealings.

Thank you. Anticipating your worthy response.

If you are able to pay for at least 1-year tuition, accommodation and some living expenses, you should be fine with those computing skills you have. From my computing skills, I realized around 17, 000$ in 2019 and all these apps are custom-based imagine if it goes viral.

Best wishes and let me know how I can be of help. Also, when am free can point you more app development ideas.

Current research in my lab: Flexible Energy storage device derived from sugar

In this research: our goal is to design a very low-cost energy storage device that can store energy from sunlight (photovoltaic connected) or AC. Hence, we have fabricated a high-performance electrode material from sugar and doped it with boron to improve its energy and power density. We focused on improving its efficiency (specific capacitance) by using artificial intelligence modelling (machine learning) to understand the effects of certain variables.

Researchers: Professor Wip7 and 4 of my PhD Students in the Departments of electrical and energy system.

Good day,

Once again congrats for your research efforts and I will encourage you to do more. I have gone through the journals you have published your research findings, very unfortunate, these journals are not reputable journals or rather not classified/indexed in databases which are internationally recognized as reputable journals.

There are lots of journals worldwide, however, reputable universities worldwide accept publications that are indexed in Web of Science (WOS), SCI (Science Citation Index), SSCI (Social Science), AHSCI ( Arts and Humanities), MCI (Medical) or expanded forms.

None of the above journals in which you have published is found in WOS or Clarivate. . You have a great results and have done brilliantly with your research and am happy with your progress. I will encourage you for your next research publication to first check the following and ensure the journals you have selected to publish are found in WOS or Clarivate;

Below links will be of great help:

Clarivate: https://mjl.clarivate.com/search-results
WOS: https://www.webofknowledge.com/

Only articles published in the journals found in WOS are paid for by majority of Educational funding organizations. You may ask the university you are attached to, in case they have another rule. For the Turkish and Canadian universities, I am attached to pay for only journals in WOS/Clarivate. Also, I heard the University of Ilorin in Nigeria does the same pays around 150k naira (as I was told).

May I know what exactly you are working on? I have couples of research works and some published on medical-related with special focus on antibacterial materials and biosensors for point of care.

Best wishes and let me know if I can be of further help.

Hi prof,

I have been following your educative posts all since late last year, you have been so supportive especially to people you know nothing or little about. more power to your elbow sir.
I had my Bsc in Economics and MSc in Energy Economics, Sir, how do I make a manuscript/put both my thesis(bsc & MSc) online.
Do I summarise both thesis to make a manuscript? Should be word for word?
I anticipate your kind response sir.

I am happy to hear that you completed your studies with degrees from Econs and Energy Econs. That's very good and well done.

As per publishing your thesis in reputable journals:

Usually, a normal research article is ranged within 2000-6000 words including manuscript, figure captions/table and references. So work in that line. I will attach a paper here now, try to download that paper and see what they have done. So if you have done something related in your Bsc and Msc and the data can be combined that's fine, if not if both are worthy and different, you can publish them differently.

1. First, visit the following sites scienceDirect.com, https://link.springer.com/, https://www.tandfonline.com/action/doSearch?AllField

Type in keywords related to the title of your intended article and you will get lots of published work. Download related ones and see how it was arranged.

2. Secondly, If you are satisfied, select the journal of interest from the search above. The majority (98%) of journals published by Elsevier, Taylors and Springer publishers are reputable. Check the journal's authors guide and read what is expected of you.

Best wishes

If is already published then you can’t publish a published article. For reputable journals general and self-plagiarism should be less than 6%.

If your work is online then the software used by the journals will detect if you are copying pasting..

Recent Publication Now: Low-cost and highly efficient Antibacterial Polymeric Materials for Food packaging

Summary: With the growing concern of biofilm-associated infections and drug-resistant bacteria, an increasing interest in developing novel antibacterial agents is an urgent priority. Metal oxide-based polymeric materials are able to distinguish mammalian cells from bacterial cells and thus provide long-term antibacterial growth inhibition. In this research, we report the preparation of MgO, NiO and chitosan-coated metal oxide (CS–MO) nanocomposites via a simple in situ chemistry approach. All the samples exhibited antibacterial activities against the Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus strains; however, more effective against S. aureus compared to E. coli. Noticeably, 5 mg/mL CS–NiO comparatively exhibited highest bactericidal capability where E. coli and S. aureus viabilities were reduced to 25–47% after 12 h incubation. After treatment with 15 mg/mL of CS–NiO, 98% of S. aureus and 92.3% of E. coli cells were inhibited.

Research Results: The CS–MO nanocomposites present superior antibacterial efficacy compared to chitosan or the metal oxides alone. The material is now re-designed as an antibacterial film for food packaging. Results here are published in a reputable journal: INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF POLYMERIC MATERIALS AND POLYMERIC BIOMATERIALS.

Researcher: Prof. Wip7, Another professor of biomaterial and toxicology, my PhD student from Iraq and Another PhD student from Spain.

Please withdraw your manuscript from predatory journals and don’t waste your research efforts.

I have said severally here on how to find reputable journals.

Please I will encourage you and upcoming researchers to focus on publishing with Elsevier, Springer, Taylor and Francis, Wiley publishers... these are reputable publishers and all subscriptions based journals are FREE.....your manuscripts will go through various peer-reviews, you will receive revisions, make adjustments if is considered worthy and get published.

Majority of predatory journals make decisions about your article in their bedroom, no peer-review or kitchen-based peer reviewed. Next will be your article is accepted and pay. When you pay, at the end you will find out your published article worth nothing while those predators smile to the bank.

I have been part of jury for selection of academic staff and researchers not only in my region but as external for number of countries; countless applicants with dozens of fake articles have been shortlisted for positions. I have seen applicants with over 46 articles published and less than 3 of these articles belong to reputable sources.

Thanks prof,
You quite motivating and a source of inspiration to me already, I had my undergraduate degree year 2018 with a degree in civil engineering, my major focus for postgraduate studies is Environment and renewable energy in a competitive and research friendly country.
The major challenge here in Nigeria presently is inadequate research facilities in our tertiary institutions and the government research agencies are quite expensive for starters, many researchers end up with predictive analysis instead of intensive research findings.
I have equipped myself with fundamental programming skills such as HTML, CSS, big data engineering, Also planning to take on a python next, with no environmental related projects executed with these skills so far, exemption of websites development I believe these skills will come handy during my postgraduate research.
I'm open to available opportunities in research area of water quality, erosion control, renewable energy (bioenergy) to be precise.

I will like to add that university-based journals can also be explored. I would suggest prospective authors check for possible journal to submit their manuscripts on DOAJ, which have many university/institution-based journals. Some are indexed in Web of Science and Scopus too. I understand these journals are still passable for acceptance owing to their domiciliarity. Most university-based journals are free too.

For this author in question, he can use this web link:

Best wishes to the author!

To my own issue, Prof Sir, I am looking for PhD opportunity in Turkey. My discipline is Library and Information Science. I've 68% in my master (79% in my dissertation) with five research articles published, notably one first author in a Q1 journal of my field. I thought I would source for scholarship but it seems I'm handicapped already. My results and others were unilaterally moderated by a lecturer, I was cut from 73-68%.

What are my chances with respect to scholarship considering my grade? I had 2'1 at bachelor's degree too, which compounds my headache. I honestly don't want to do PhD in this country.

Best wishes

Thank you sir, I appreciate... I will act accordingly

Good morning Prof, since early 2015 I've followed this page and I'm super impressed with how you have helped so many.
I drew a lot of inspiration at one point or the other from your posts.
By God's grace, i successfully completed my Ph.D last year and
thereafter scaled through an interview in a Federal Institution as a Lecturer. As a young Academic, i would like to benefit from your deep wealth of experience in growing and making impact in terms of quality research.

None of the above journals in which you have published is found in WOS or Clarivate. . You have a great results and have done brilliantly with your research and am happy with your progress. I will encourage you for your next research publication to first check the following and ensure the journals you have selected to publish are found in WOS or Clarivate;
