..harps on community policing

Rising from a session with senators yesterday on security matters, the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, urged state governors to take responsibility, saying those committing crimes have reasons for their actions. The IGP was at the Senate to brief the lawmakers on the concept of community policing. Addressing reporters later, the IGP said: “If it is lack of employment, if it is lack of education or those issues that will require intervention by the government, the state governors should take responsibility, local government chairmen should take responsibility.

Not that everything will be left to security agencies alone.” He said that there were plans to take policing back to communities. Adamu said while communities help in identifying the crime, the police would work with them to solve it. Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, after the session, said: “The police force must find a way to be more operationally proactive to protect the lives of the citizens”.

Our borders should be closed against the influx of all these Fulanis. The MYETI ALLAH must be made to give the detailed account of what they know about our security challenges in Nigeria. At this point, restructuring and true Federalism is needed. We can't continue like this.

The security of lives and property has never been this low since the entity called Nigeria started existing.

The CP's statement goes to show that very little is done from the upper echelon of power to drastically reduce this menace. I have always been in support of well coordinated and corruption free community policing.

God bless Nigeria.

The IGP is right in his own angle of thought because most of our state governors owes state salaries and cares less about the suffering masses making most crimes turnout out of frustrations but on the other hand the federal government is not putting enough efforts to see that this crimes are being curbed to the bearest minimum since most of the heinous crimes now comes from one region of the country for their own selfish benefit and this is the same region that holds the highest power in the country.. I just think Amotekun is truly on the right path..and It's high time we start to defend our own self.. Because we've been failed as citizens

The policing system in NIgeria is terribly wrong.

I saw the miscreant Arewa group launching northern security. The name alone even show bitterness. What they failed to understand is that they have lost NC long time ago.

The north (with exception of NC which I now see as part of the South), is not in a very good position to enforce things.

If we sneeze here, poverty rate will triple there. For a start, desertification is happening over there. If we begin to seriously look into anti grazing laws, your herds will go and be eating desert sands in the north. No water, no vegetations and you dey do "shege" for people that could send you into oblivion.

The grassroots politicians are the mobilizers of thugs during elections

These thugs are the greatest threat to the society yet they know them but refuse to expose them because of political correctness

Its obvious insecurity in Nigeria has come to stay as it is the easiest tool used by the politician to gain sympathy from the electorates

Which way Nigeria....the old good days has gone into extinction

State & LG should border about security while police concentrate on income generation through SARS, unlawful arrest for bail fund and extortion at the highways.

These people are taking Nigerians for a ride. It is time Fulanis control over our security system be broken. Let each state and local government begin to produce their own Police Commissioner and Area Commander. Strategic Police Commissioners and Area Commanders are Islamic House/Fulanis.Timefoforus to reject it. This is a way of colonizing the people. You don't report the atrocious herders because you become a target as you do so. Even if an arrest is effected, before you get home, the culprit must have been released without any meaningful action. The deadly ones come back to attack. I'm happy and optimistic because God pass them.

Please, stop the falsehood. Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu is not owing Abians salary. Abians here on Nairaland said he is not owing them salary. According to them, OVI has made Abia investor friendly.

Ikpeazu is the best Governor in Igboland. Don't spoil his name.
