3+ comments in the space of a couple of minutes, and all negative.

Do I detect a tone of envy?

If your region had done this, the chest beating will make the internet shut down for a few months.

But since it's the people you love to hate, let's hate on it and pray it fails, right?

Hey.. don't get me wrong. I'm from the North but I love and admire my Yoruba brothers and Sisters.
My concerns is they should spend less time making Amutekun a thing of showbiz and get busy. It is a serious initiative and so far all I hear is glamourization here and there such that negative elements like Afenifere and ffk have started hijacking the whole initiative.
Amutekun initiative yet to be perfected yet there's so much noise about it. Even our Igbo brothers are making more noise about Amutekun than the owners themself.

You can hardly blame the SW governors and the organizers for that.

Real ground work is ongoing.

Those who are shouting in the media just need attention, that's all.

Take for example, the Governor of Ondo state went to see Buhari for another matter and news agents and rumour mongers started saying he was going for the sole purpose of discussing Amotekun.

He had to come out and set the records straight that the matter didn't come up for discussion at all.

The people that are shouting are shouting because of their own reasons. Those that are working behind the scenes to make the security outfit function well are working quietly. That's it.

Where are they going to see money to fund this project? The salary / allowances for these guys, arms and equipments, running of the outfits among other logistics....
Did they do sustenable financial projection at all?
In case the funding plan fails, is there any provision to contain that or the guys take to street?
If individuals will be involved in the funding, what do they stand to gain thereafter or they are just being good citizens protectingvtge lives of their people?
If it will be fully sponsored by the governor's through their offices, won't they use them as political thugs in the next political move, ambition or even election?
All these and more are begging questions to me than even the legality that Malami abi wetin wetin dey even ask...

The West has got it right this time around. They should not be distracted. But the effectiveness of the body will soon be put to test.

I doubt if it's going to be all that effective how are they going to confront fulaniherdsmen and other criminals that operates with sophisticated weapons like AK47? Maybe they want to be relying on their local charms.

God willing, I will gladly obtain the form next week when the form will be officially out. Amotekun is a welcome development within the South West states irrespective of the criticism of those who do not believe in the sanctity of human life.

It is sad to read or hear some people criticise and call for the non approval of the Operation Amotekun. Pessimist will always see the negative side of a development. If the inauguration of the Operation will curb the menace happening around, why not?

Some argued that the operation could be hijacked and used to fight political opponents of the progenitors. I sincerely think it could be tackled before it kick starts. Let the recruits know their schedule of duty and all the paper work be well articulated. By this, the fear will erode and members will know their limit.

Insecurity must be stopped in South west, if not at least reduced to the minimum level. We are for peace. Whether Fulani like it or not, we own our land and they can't do anything about it. The era of Othman Dan fodio they are relying on has gone. We are battle ready for any onslaught from them. Let's see how riding horses with bow and arrow to attack the enemies will work in this modern age. God bless Omoluabi.

Do these things still work? Deeply spiritual indeed. Very useful during the Yoruba wars of old I guess.

Lagos State for instance has a security trust fund. I believe they'll have similar ones set up in the other states.

The officers of this new security outfit should be sponsored to receive information gathering trainings abroad. I support the idea that they shouldn't wear uniform but should be well armed, so as to be able handle resistance.
