So I found this in a book I'm reading and I'm quite curious how many of our resident developers can solve it.
By starting from the number 1 and repeatedly either adding 5 or multiplying by 3, an infinite amount of new numbers can be produced. How would you write a function that, given a number, tries to find a sequence of additions and multiplications that produce that number?
Would love to see some answers posted and of course. No cheating please. That only means you're cheating yourself right? wink
Please join the my CAA (Coding Ask and Answer) group and ask the question. Send me WhatsApp message 08135683431 to receive the invite link.

Re: Programming Logic Challenge by makavele: 10:01am On Feb 03, 2020
Lmao do I really know the technical differences between developer and software engineer? What language do you write in?

when you come on the train ride i have been in, then it's no longer about what languages do you write in, but a matter of what tools do you use?
i am primarily focused on the MEAN, MERN AND PERN stacks, can still do PHP and C++ if i want. But I am more into architecting the structural designs and patterns for programs, As you grow you begin to write lesser code and do more designs.

Ur Question Luks A Litlle Well Costructive, But One Thing U 4got Is That Books Comes With Understanding & Reading(Practicing) Styles Different From Others, But While Other Books Are On D Standard Or General Note Mostly When U Come 2programming, N 4such Reasons, Others Might Not Be Able To Get Ur Question Right Till They Learn D Full Details Backing Ur Question.

Secondly, What Functions Are We To Write, Is It A Functional Codes(coding Using D Function Syntax), A Functional Mathematics Or A Funtional Algorithm.

I didn't insult anybody who didn't call for it. But I do seriously object to you trying to tell me how to reply even when I'm insulted. I'll be the judge of that thank you very much.
And yes... FYI there actually are a lot of mad people on Nairaland

Bro. I don't have to comment or say anything about this, but I want to, so... Some people are here to seek for knowledge just like you, and when they encounter questions like the one you posted and don't understand, they ask you to rephrase the question. It's not a big ask, afterall, you're learning too. Na everything wey you read you dey understand at once? And if you don't ask more questions, you don't acquire deeper knowledge of the subject matter.

So take it easy on them, and try to help people that come along and asks for your help. The free resources you're getting online, with easy-to-understand materials and content were made by people willing to share their knowledge with others, no matter how little or huge it is. Of course, you can talk to whoever you like and however you want to, it just doesn't help anyone (not even yourself) when you dismiss them as if they're nothing.

If you can't help them, point them in the right direction. If you can, whether rudely or politely, offer your assistance. Shey you know google? That's exactly what it does...

Seen that question too many times . . . Recursion is your answer !
But back to the most important stuff here to discuss:

Well, that wouldn't go down well with some people. I have no qualms with that, (maybe because I am not a developer, as you like to put it, but) because I believe, everybody should have freedom of 'expression' but verily, verily I say unto you, I have breezed through lots of books and materials in software engineering and I will tell you a secret. questions like these, are very good, to test your problem solving abilities, and perhaps scale through some interviews (99%) of the time.

But upon resumption, guess what, it's a different ballgame altogether, and all your BFS and DFS algorithm will go to sh.t
when you face the first issue for which you are to create a pull request.

Cheers.
Don't listen to this man.
He can't solve this question hence the shiiit reply
