Have been thinking and making some findings about this for a while now and have come to realise that most of us living in this world do not want to agree that islam is a curse to this world? Why do they indulge in killing their same human species all in the name of fighting for their god? There is this quote that says “ not all muslim are terrorist” but research made it known that all terrorist are muslim. Is this what a religion of peace should practice? I am not disputing the facts that all religion have their flaws too but have never seen any religion more violent than islam. Even Babalawo and idol worshipers have not sunk blood more than what islam has caused to this world. If islam is being removed from this world then we have remove 80% of violent accross the world. Its not by force to join your religion and its not ideal to force anyone to practice what you do, The truth is bitter and i know allot of people will come and criticize me but who cares, i feel sad reading everyday about killings which is always linked to islam. Take a look at how some islamic state have rubbish their women by making them look like a masquerade all in the name of religion and denying them so social activities across the globe. To my conclusion : Islam is never a religion of peace and will never be, take it or leave it, it is a deadly group claiming to worship a god that require allot of killings of fellow human.

There is this quote that says “ not all muslim are terrorist” but research made it known that all terrorist are muslim. The quote up there is wrong. There are hundreds of terrorists and terrorist groups with no ties to Islam. The KKK is an example of a "Christian" terrorist group. Your problem shouldn't be with Islam but with a few Muslims who misinterpret the words from their book. The verses were revealed at different times for different reasons but those same people have it all wrong. Yes, there are Islamic terrorists groups but still there are good people among them, Sierra Leone is rated among the most tolerant nations in the world despite an overwhelming Muslim majority population and the same applies with nations like Senegal, Comoros and even in the south west part of the country. But it would be wrong to tarnish a religion due to the activities of the supposed adherents, I don't know if you know that Christianity once had a terrible past but the image of the religion got better thanks to reformation which is what Islam needs. |

Islam has nt contributed any meaningful thing to better the life of its followers, rather it causes more harm than good both to the society where it is practice n the world at large. what a terrible way to worship moon n star in the name of god. By there fruit we shall knw then. |

drips8:If you don't mind, I'm gonna dissect some parts of your post. The first part of the quote that you brought up actually favors Islam. I had a childhood best friend who was Muslim. Now, she didn't dress any differently than anyone else. She had a Muslim first and last name, wore pants, make-up, and her face/head weren't covered up. All I knew was she didn't celebrate Christmas. She was very peaceful. I had no reason to be afraid of her. We were friends until college, where we kinda drifted apart. She never spoke about her religion. Maybe she wasn't deeply into it...just as I wasn't deeply into Christianity when I was younger. That's all the Islam I ever knew.... Until I got older.... Then all that was shown to me on tv were extreme Islamic groups...only known for slaughtering Christians or any Muslim family member who decided to convert to Christianity. As I joined N.L., about 3 yrs and 1 month ago, the images drilled into my head were made real. An allegedly small extremist, terroristic group (who has taken Nigeria hostage) has been responsible for taking hundreds of thousands of Christians' lives...purely because of their faith and I am supposed to "not" judge all of Islam just because of them? Well sir, I say the same thing about Christianity. Never should an entire religion--(Christianity)be discredited because there are a few pockets of unconverted, satanic, deceptive people disguised under the garb of Christianity. Nairaland is a micro-cosm of Nigeria. So the majority of what's written on this forum is what is the held belief. Clearly, Islam is the chosen religion on Nairaland and in Nigeria. We have even seen it played out there just as recently as a week or so ago. It's painfully, painfully and irrefutably obvious. So the need for you to defend it, baffles me. The disparities are so glaring. The sincere and tiny amount of Christians here on Nairaland have a battle...and I really respect the ones who keep trudging up the hill...unbothered YET focusing on preaching our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ..and encouraging the brethren. They are here and I see them. Not surprising though, because Christ tells in His Word that the world will hate us, because it hated Him.. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God...I believe in the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit working together in unison. But I should not be killed because of my belief..anymore than I would kill someone based on his/her belief. The world has that view of Islam based on what we see presented to us. Just as the agenda here on Nairaland is to disparage and discredit Christianity...just by showing the extreme situations that may occur. It's unfortunate that I cannot go into a Muslim thread, speak with fellow Muslims, because I would have to betray my allegiance to and faith in Christ in order to do so. I can't help but to ultimately think that Islam is violent and oppressive, because nothing has been shown the opposite. My religion doesn't preach "murder". In fact, it preaches the opposite. Doesn't Islam preach it though? How is that peaceful? Of course, there are extremes in any group. But just as you want Islam to be looked at in a respectful manner, so should Christianity. |

Eviana:If you noticed on my first post I quoted the Christian part in which I described them as self proclaimed. My post was never to discredit, I even typed that Islam needs a reformation like Christianity. I don't judge other Christians based on a few. As for the nairaland part, I guess you are referring to the oath on Muslim threads but Muslims are not responsible for that. Seun only made the oath due to the amount of hate Muslims were getting on their threads. Seun is also an atheist by the way. From your post, it seems you are judging Muslims from the actions of the extremists. The extremists claim they are doing as stated by the Holy book but hundreds of millions of Muslims follow the same book and have no reason to kill. if killing the supposed infidels was a path to heaven, just imagine 1.6 billion people who are all for total chaos. There are verses implying violence in their book as well as verses implying violence in the bible and all for a specific reason. The basic difference between the Muslims and Christians are the tiny number of supposed Muslims taking them out of context. Whether Islam exists or not, there will always be violence in the world(This is not a justification). There are supposed Buddhist terrorist groups in Nepal and Sri Lanka as there is the LRA in Uganda, a self proclaimed christian terror group but you know they do not represent the true beliefs of the religion. |

drips8:Thanks for replying. I wouldn't label the KuKlux Klan as a "Christian terrorist group," although they tried to use the Bible to justify their beliefs. Plus, that's on a whole different level...was way deeper than a religious reason and is another story for another time. I know discussing Islam is a controversial topic and many people are frightened. I'm sure some folks disagree with my even having the "audacity" to speak on it...yet again. I guess I need to be afraid of retaliation....however I am not...regardless of where I reside in the world. If death is the path I may have to tread for standing up for my belief and my Lord Jesus, then that is my cup to bear. I can only imagine how the Nigerian Christians feel though(especially in the North)...they are probably mortified. I also see that traditionalists and atheists/"free-thinkers" here on N.L. are also very frightened of the repercussions of condemning Islam. I just wonder why they can't muster up the courage to debase, mock, ridicule and insult Islam like they do Christianity? What they do is cowardly...with all due respect. I'm wondering just how many Christians had been attacking the Islamic section? Do we even know if they were sincere, true Christians, or rather "trolls", or Muslims and atheists pretending to be Christians in order to cause a false strife in order to justify creating a section for them? Can you not see the constant abuse from atheists and probably some Muslims here daily in this section on the Christians Honestly, I've never seen anything like this before in my life. It just amazes me..truly. One of the most irritating things for me though, is the act of cowardice...and I am just being brutally honest. Going back to the OP's original question, I think that "fear of retaliation/consequences" will result if anything is spoken against Islam...hence the reason they don't. Christianity has its share of issues and problems, but you can't tell me that Islam doesn't have just as many or more. The disparities here on N.L. are so glowing that a person would need sunglasses in order to "not" see them. I am judging Islam based on what I've seen through print and social media... (t.v, newspaper, internet--Nairaland etc.,). I just believe in "freedom of speech" for all. Maybe cause of where I grew up... Unfortunately, I know that "it is what it is".... Such is life here on Nairaland. It will remain how it is here on the Religion section. As I said before, the tiny amount of sincere Christians here on Nairaland will continue to prosper..... I am not a cowardly person when it comes to fairness and truth...just saddens me that so many people are. I will say no more. I have spoken my piece on this. Thank you again for your reply. |
