I sent the picture below to my friend and she responded 'AMEN'. I had to remind her that this is not a prophecy but a goal that needs actions to become a reality.

#Poverty will drastically reduce if the following are done.

1. Change our mindset
2. Increase Minimum Wage.
3.Cut down public officers' salaries and allowances.
4. Gain 21st Century skills.
5. Provision of well paying jobs
6. Smart solutions for electricity and Water problem
7. Stop being greedy, selfish and self-centered.
8. Minding one's business

What other ways can we reduce poverty for ourselves and others? Any suggestions?

I didn't see religious and ethnic bigotry. It should top that list.

I'd pretty much agree, though I do not agree with 2 since mid-level public officers' salaries and allowances is rather small. Still, if you do those others, their salaries might more likely increase and reduce poverty even further.

Its that number 1 I agree with mostly, though I would add a 'y' so it reads "change your mindset", and therefore ensure each person is responsible for changing their own mindset.

If we all change our mindsets to realising we are responsible for the state that we are in, instead of behaving like Unoka and blaming everything and everyone else but ourselves, then Nigeria just might better.

Very correct on this one. Thank you for your input.

Education should become the top priority of the government and every Nigerian should have access to "College Student loans".

Make politics less attractive, because the only reason why poverty is this high is because of the huge spate of fantastically corrupt leaders we have.
All the resources that should go round end up in the pockets of few fools... Did you see what that ex Abia state governor Theodore Orji and his son did to that state? You'll cry when you read that story.

Until every one naira spent by govt can be accounted for, poverty will continue to rip Africa especially Nigeria off.

You that is not poor what have you done to upgrade the standard of living in your region??

You're still poor and backward if your region still look like in this 21st century

We only need to change our mentality and hold our selfish non performing leaders accountable

We have written this more than once here.....
Hope it can get to the right sources.

HOW NIGERIA CAN PAY MINIMUM WAGE COMFORTABLY..........

1. Abolish SECURITY VOTE in NIGERIA. Nigeria will pay N45,000 minimum wage comfortably.

2. a) Abolish CONSTITUENCY PROJECT FUNDS
b) Reduce number of ADVISERS to SENATE PRES(2), HOUSE SPEAKER(2), GOVs(4), PRESIDENT(5), VP(2)
c) Reduce current ALL Political Office Holders PAY CHEQUES by 51.5%, without exception
d) Do away with special remuneration to POLITICAL ADVISERS & PUBLIC SERVANTS e.g; Purchase of Private Vehicles, Houses, granting Govt paid Vacations, paying for 1st & Business Class Transportations, etc, etc...
e) Abolish payment of OVERSEAS MEDICAL BILLS for Political Office Holders.
f) Eliminate PRIVATE PRACTICE in public workforce
g) Eliminate participation of Public Workforce in Partisan Politics.
h) Institute EMPLOYMENT BY MERIT, and eliminate UNDEREMPLOYMENT.
i) Review and eliminate allocation of Govt paid POLITICAL AIDES & SUPPORT STAFF to Political Office Holders.

With (1) + (2) Nigeria would pay a minimum wage of N65,000 comfortably

3. Move Nigeria MORE to Private Sector Driven Economy
a) Privatise ALL MOST of Federal Govt PARASTATALS & reduce Federal Direct Funded AGENCIES to 68% of the present.
b) Privatise ALL of STATE Govt PARASTATALS & reduce State Direct Funded AGENCIES to 19% of the present.
c) Reduce current DIRECT LABOUR JOB participation by 49%
d) Encourage more Working Hours until Nigeria economic stabilizes
e) Discourage UNIONISM in Public Workforce

With (1) + (2) + (3), Nigeria would pay a minimum wage of N101,500 comfortably.

4) Institute DEATH PENALTY to proven THEFT OF PUBLIC FUNDS no matter how little, and LIFE Jail Sentences for COLLABORATORS.

With (1) + (2) + (3) & (4), Nigeria would pay a minimum wage of N203,500 comfortably.

God bless Nigeria.

Number 1 should be "North centric". 4 children per man, polygamy should only be allowed when a man has attained a certain financial status.

Na our number one problem be that. Them dey born like local fowl.

Reducing poverty in the southern part of Nigeria can be a possibility going with the fact that average South Nigerians are allergic to poverty.

But reducing poverty in the Northern part of the country can take more than a generational effort because people there believes poverty is a way of life that must be embraced with full joy.

Therefore, the first step into reducing poverty in Nigeria is by first breaking up this shii entrapment, then then North will realize its in real real shii called POVERTY...

9. Lower the number of children we give birth to

You will see a man in Nigeria with a salary of 25k giving birth to more than 5 children

Why won't there be poverty

RESTRUCTURE NIGERIA !

There is TOO MUCH CONCENTRATION OF POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC POWERS AT ABUJA FCT

The powerful centre LORD OVER the states in an unhealthy ways paralyzing all the commercial interest of the state.

Nigeria need a weak centre and a powerful states and regions to bring government and development to the grassroot.

Gaining 21st century skills in a village is useless.

Provision of well paying jobs won't come from heaven.

Minimum wage is 30k but till today people are being paid 10k as salaries.

If Nigeria can fix it's infrastructures and security issues 80 percent of this problem is fixed.
