Dessdess: During the HCA training you might not be able to work, but it's a relatively short training. While in school your kids go to daycare. Maybe take only 3 or 4 courses per semester instead of the maximum 5, work as casual so you can select your shifts. During your LPN as a PR you'll get loans and grants. Student loans come with a living allowance stipend. Depending on your income you can anticipate 1500 in CCB payments for your children. Will you be alone with the kids or there's a partner? If there's a partner everything here na 50/50 o. You can do bulk cooking weekends and during the week anyone who's able caters for the children. Laundry na washing machine. Dishes na dishwasher. Stick vacuum. Electric broom. Swiffer. There's even robo vacuum, you program, it sweeps while you're asleep and you wake up to a clean house. Insta pot. Deep fryer. With 3 children equipment and automation will be your best friend You guys can even arrange yourselves such that the children only do drop in at daycare... For instance he works mornings weekdays, you work nights and weekends. The only time children will go to daycare is weekday if you need to go to school during the day. And depending in school you will have option of evening classes self... Also make friends and do rub my back I rub your back for baby sitting once in a while. So calm down sis, you'll be alright. Nothing good comes easy, just hold tight to your dream and before you know it 4 years don over and you hold your RN for hand. By then even your youngest would have started school and na groove go be your second name. 44 Likes 19 Shares |

19CannyMum: Is childcare cheaper in other provinces? I thot childcare was the same everywhere. Maybe I should start thinking to relocate lol. Fact is that the opportunities in ON can't be ignored tho. For every 1 finance/IT role in AB, there's probably 20 in ON. 11 Likes 1 Share |

MummyJaygirls:Indeed, people need to have an open mind when moving to Canada. i.e. explore other provinces like you mentioned. You never know. Some might get lucky - have a low cost of living plus a descent wage. However, it is important to also note that Canada has a small job market compared to most other G8 countries. That means some particular jobs are almost not existent in some provinces except one is willing to change career. Alberta effectively put an end to my banking career, but that was where we had family before we landed. I found myself in the oil industry since that was what was reigning in that part of Canada . Maybe if I had later on moved to somewhere like Montreal or Toronto, I might still be in Banking but moving also cost money. This shows that we can't always have it all. All provinces have their merits and demerits. It is left for the immigrant to conduct a solid research on the market and available jobs of where he or she wants to land. 34 Likes 3 Shares |

Muchaio: Very true. Though they also say that for every 1 finance/IT person in AB, there are probably 20 in ON... If you catch my drift. Abeg no relocate because of childcare o! Childcare cost is a matter of you use money to make money Besides, they are saying Calgary is in a recession at the moment. I don't know what to believe sha because people are still getting jobs everyday. I think the city is just too big on man know man when it comes to jobs. 6 Likes |

Yea, some people do LPN because it's just 2years, while RN is 3 to 4years depending on the institution..I am trying to find out if there's also grant for RN as it is for LPN though. olalekan9320: |

I have so much interest in this HCA--->LPN--->RN. I will appreciate it if someone can give more detailed information on how to embark on this pathway. A list of two or more schools will do. 2 Likes 1 Share |

@ olalekan9320, Dessdess & Cannymum. God bless you for your contributions on the Nursing path and the rich enlightenment. Asking for my wife, who has 2 diplomas (General Nursing & Paediatric Nursing) here in Nigeria. Please, are there schools in Calgary where RN can be pursued in THREE (3) YEARS. Your suggestions is greatly appreciated. Many thanks olalekan9320: |
