Igbos think that Yorubas betrayed them starting with the events of 1952 in the Western House of Assembly, then the Biafra issue when Yorubas were percieved as having stabbed the Ibos in the back, right up to the events of 2015 , when Yorubas betrayed a 'Southern President' in favour of a Hausa man.

Yourbas on the other hand think Igbos betrayed them starting with the events of 1966 (yes, some Akintola supporters in the hosue), the Civil war, and the fact that Biafra invaded the South West.,(a mistake by Ojukwu, though understandable from a millitary point of view..which pushed the West into the hands of the federals)., and then the Second Republic things, and the whole Awo-Zik rivalry.

The sad thing is that the more they fight, the less they get chances to put their interests forward. A united South-Middle Belt front could forward stuff like restructuring and even peaceful secession, yet the divsions make such things a dream.

And the evidence on this thread shows that there is no sign of the divide ending.

I have come to realize that the anonymity offered by websites like nairaland makes it easy for the frustrated masses to vent without repercussions.

Having said these, though, it will be the height of foolishness to erroneously judge the thought of the whole nation on the thoughts of so few participants.

The truth is that most of Nigeria's working population don't have the time to be angry at some perceived slights that happened years ago. when you're working full-time from morning to evening, you'll only be concerned about your future and factors that affect that future.

These two tribes don't hate each other because they are not northerners and they are not jobless.

For someone like me, if you are not my boss, future boss, or worker, I honestly couldn't care less.

It seems if you title a thread "Hatred Between Yorubas and Igbos", the site admin are ok with it, but any discussion about hating Yoruba which doesnt add Igbo in the context, they discourage.

So it appears they want us to believe it's only Igbos from the SE who are behind this Yoruba hatred.
