FG Re-Arraigns Omoyele Sowore For ‘Treason’ by Nobody: 11:33am On Feb 13, 2020
The federal government has re-arraigned Omoyele Sowore, convener of #RevolutionNow Movement, on a two-count charge of treasonable felony.

At the court on Thursday, Aminu Alilu, the prosecution counsel, asked that the previous seven-count charge, which was filed in September 2019, be substituted with an amended charge.

Upon re-arraignment, Sowore and Olawale Bakare, his co-defendant, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

In the new charge, the offences which bordered on fraud, cyber-stalking and of insulting the president were removed.

The government accused them of staging “a revolution campaign on 5th day of August 2019, tagged #RevolutionNow” aimed at removing the president during his term in office by unconstitutional means.

The prosecution counsel informed the court of the presence of the first witness whom he said was ready to give evidence.

But Abdul Mahmud, counsel to the defendants, told the court they cannot proceed with the trial because the prosecution was yet to comply with the order directing it to provide statements of the witnesses it intends to call.

He said only the summarised statements of witnesses were served on them.

“We were served with summary statements of Moses Amadi, Usman Bafa, Paul Okafor (technical video engineer) and Paul Clement (financial analyst/investigator),” he said.

Mahmud added that the video recording and tape mentioned in one of the witnesses’ statement had not been served on them.

Aliyu said since all his witnesses would be referring to the video evidence, he would need two weeks to enable him to serve the necessary evidence on the defence team.

He also informed the court that the N200,000 cost awarded against the prosecution has been paid to the defence team.

Mahmud confirmed payment of the said sum.

Ijeoma Ojukwu, the judge, adjourned the case till March 11, 12, 13 for trial.

Honestly, if this is true, then we are in for it in this country, this is the only kind of thing the federal government led by General Mohammed can swiftly respond to with his team, when we have alot of problem that needs urgent attention to.

I also read they paid the 200k immediately, when they know it's not much.

The federal government needs to sit their ass down and map out plans not "change" to move the country forward in all the issues that have been springing up lately.

A graduate who struggles to to scale through wicked lecturers and burn overnight candles couldn't get a decent job, you can't walk freely to other part of the state for fear of being kidnapped, you can't pay bill's as VAT and every other things has increased due to bad leadership.

It's high time we Nigerian use our brain, it's better to vote for a blind man in the next coming election than continue voting these set of people in power, who only wants to go there and loot for themselves and their yet unborn generations.

Amidst the current challenge in China, they were still able to build a better hospital in 10days, and we are here still in manual age.

We all just need to vote to just sell this country to people that can run and pilot the affair well.

I am just so tired of this country abeg

With the way imo state judgement ended to favour a fourth placed APC clown, I seriously doubt if this young man would come out from this mess.
My prayers are with you, though it was and still is a silly move by calling a protest revolution. You gave up the rights to revolt the very second you contested for the seat of the president. Not to talk of trying to revolt just immediately after you lost. Wrong move. You got it all wrong young man.

I hate buhari with all my heart but wrong move man.

Seriously i have seen it coming and knew federal government will definitely twist the charge to that because that is the only way of winning the case. I felt the pain and trouble dis guy will be passing through..he made like 3 mistakes i think
1.He would have gain more heart and win people over if he didn't contested for the presidential election and lost.
2. federal government may tag his claim as someone who wants power by force
3. He had a meeting with KANU which is under wanted list of Federal government after he lost the election and pronounce REVOLUTION NOW days after the meeting (federal government will tag #REVOLUTION NOW as the outcome of the meeting with KANU)
I just pray and hope that he will be save from this 2.
