The reason for the disqualification seems lame. If it is a genuine reason, I am sure many present-day governors will lose their seat if background checks were carried out on their deputies.

Result forgery is not lame. Our politicians are very unserious because I see no reason why they can’t get a simple genuine o’level result. Always trying to cut corners, that’s why the whole country is a shithole.

Justice Odili did not write the Electoral Act. Blame APC for always presenting people with fake certificates. I am surprised that people are screaming .. this case was on before election. Infact two cases against Lyon and his deputy were on. One by PDP on this certificate issue and the second by Lapobriri on APC primaries. APC was able to prevail on Lapobriri to mellow down on his case which was even stronger than the PDP's..

The ticket was for Lyon and his deputy. The thinking is that some of those who voted for APc did so because of the deputy, may be if he had a different person, those voters may do otherwise. Since the deputy certificate was forged, the ticket was forged ab initio. Ignorance of the law is no excuse!

It's nothing personal..
She didn't even read the lead judgement.

She didn't ask anyone to forge credentials. I read the High Court judgement, the Deputy had like four certificates with four different names.

This judgement is even more straightforward than that of Imo. She definitely will feel bad about Rt. Hon. Emeka, but the Deputy is a mad man.

Perhaps, political parties will begin to look more introspectively on their candidates' credentials, etc.

The law says it is a joint ticket.

The Supreme Court has made this pronouncement severally.

The supreme court should have allowed Lyon to be sworn in and disqualified his deputy. Lyon would then pick another deputy. The people of Bayelsa voted for Lyon, not his deputy.

It is too early to change the electoral law to favour this case

Don't forget that the judges use the existing laws/constitutions to deliver judgement

They never fabricated anyone themselves

This is very annoying. You know the law and yet you want cut corners. It is maddening.

This man was in the national assembly debating on policies and laws that would govern us, yet him no get certificate.

We'd suffer and go to school. Somebody would brag on how he employs graduate.

There is NO compromise. The issue is VERY CLEAR. You forge certificate, you are disqualified. APC is fond of certificate forgeries. On the bolded, David Lyon won the election alongside his running mate. His deputy obviously had a hand in his victory and since the foundation of the joint ticket is fraudulent, the ticket is useless from start. A faulty foundation cannot be built on ... this is the LAW!!!
