I've been a silent follower of this thread for a while now and have read all the pages......My question is My passport bears my husbands name and my Account still bears my father's name and doing a change of name in bank now will of course affect my monthly stipends......dont know if this could be a problem.

I want to start the application next week I'm kind of confused.
Please help my cofusion.

I will advice you and orilua to calm down. Just be patience. Brazil embassy now process visa application for more than three months. I will advice anyone If you plan to give birth in Brazil. Get it back of your mind that your application will stay at the Brazil embassy for more than three months maybe even more. The reason for that is still unknown. Good luck.

My 50kobo thoughts on this.
As a thumb rule based on the USA and UK visitors visa application, I believe it is safest to apply for a visitors visa not more than 3-4months in advance.
Apply in February for a trip in May.

If I am a visa officer, I'd be concerned that you are applying for a visa in February when you intend to travel in November.
It won't look like you being organized to me but rather like there is a hidden intent.

Then for the duration of your holiday.
Even Bank MDs are entitled to only 25 working day leaves.
I guess the President has about the same number of days too.
So why will an employee holiday in another man's country for 6 weeks.
Even an entrepreneur like Dangote won't even.


Time is money
And time in a foreign country is more money to be burnt by you.
The visa officers must not have a reason to disbelieve your motive.

Well unless you are an investor seeking raw materials in the Amazon or you'd be undergoing a medical procedure on your spinal cord.
6 weeks looks overrrrrrlllllly fishy to me.

It is safest to leave it at 10 - 12days.
That was the range I used and the range I have used in my other applications.

(Remember these are all theoretical, once your visa is in your hand, you call your shots)

Pls Adjo10 and other successful mothers in d house, I really needed ur advice. My wife is in her 25th weeks already, and we are proposing she gives birth in Brazil. My question goes thus.
(1)Can we apply for a family tourist visa (we planned going as a family, wife/Husband/daughter, all neccessary documents and Bank statement are available to buttress d visa application).
(2)Or should we just allow only her (wife) to go by business or tourist visa (we have a relation in Brazil who suggest we get a business visa for her and he will send an invitation letter for her to apply)
(3)Is it advisable to process d visa for Her as a pregnant woman giving birth in Brazil by getting all relevant reports from a hospital/doctor in Brazil (what are d chances of issuing her visa by so doing)
(4)Or will u advice we don’t disclose her pregnancy status while filling d form.
Kindly note that we are applying just for birth sake and will return back to Nigeria after her delivery

This is going to require a very long explanation but let me try and make is simple for you. In fact there is no more RNE. The 2017 immigration overhaul changed the name and category of many things. Since 2017 RNE as been change to CRNM card. Your CRNM card will have an “RNM” number on it. You will never receive a visa inside Brazil. What you receive is call CRNM card or residency card. Since 2017 there is a new category of naming of residency permits. There are 3 categories: Temporal residents (Students etc etc), Resident (Formally know as Permanent Resident) and a 3rd category i don’t even remember the name.

So in short, your CRNM card will have a classification of “Resident” written at the back. Don’t be sad, that is actually your PR just that the name “Permanent” has been deleted according to the 2017 immigration law. To receive the “Residente” status, you must meet the requirements just like a person applying for PR in the past. There a many category of people who can receive PR (now “Residente”) in Brazil. These people are parents of a Brazilian child, investors, professionals with special skills and the spouse of a Brazilian.

Here is what confuses people and they keep referring to it as a family reunification residency card. Like i said, many categories of people qualify for PR and PR (Residente) leads to citizenship. Even though you will have the same PR as someone else, you are still not equal in terms of the duration of the PR card (CRNM card) itself, and the amount of time you have to wait to apply for citizenship. Your PR card(CRNM card) as a parent is valid for 9 years, that of an investor is valid for 2 years etc etc... Whiles you have to spend only 1 year in Brazil to get citizenship, an investor has to spend 4 years. Remember that you both have the same physical looking PR card in hand which is blue-green in color while temporal residents is another color all together.

Now, to differentiate your PR card with other PR cards, since there is no physical appearance difference, there will be a little writing at the back indicating the section of the immigration law that applies to your PR card. So yours will be that of family reunification. This is to make sure your application for citizenship is after 1 year of residency and not 4 or 15 years like others who have the same PR card.

Voilaaaa... some people call it family reunification permit or whatever. At the end, the name doesn’t matter. It’s the value of it.

Let us know when you get your card so that everyone here will understand if the information I’m providing is correct or not. Cheers
