The company my hubby works with recently promoted and transferred him to Lagos. The new job requires him to oversee the company's branches in Lagos, Oyo and Ogun states respectively while we live in Kano. Although, he's scarcely in Lagos, he's suggesting we relocate to join him in Lagos. I've always had this odd feeling about Lagos most especially because of the long hours spent usually in traffic.
My fellow N'landers, I need objective opinions and suggestions on the safest and coolest city to relocate to, aside Lagos in the south west.

It's either Ogun or Oyo State. There are some parts of Ogun States very close to Lagos like Sango and others. I don't know much about traffic there but I can tell you about the traffic in Ibadan. It's on the rise but not as frustrating as that of Lagos and tbh, both Oyo and Ogun States are relatively peaceful for now. However, you may consider other factors like children's education, the kind of accommodation, electricity supply etc. I think these should guide you.

This is funny o. I don't think I can ever get used to long hours in traffic. By the way, what you just stated is not even encouraging. More of the many reasons I detest Lagos. Do you have more facts why I should choose Lagos over Ibadan or abeokuta?

Noted! I'll keep in touch. Although, I'm kind of perplexed as to why I should need a security dog if there's 100% security. More so, last year, I used to see disturbing news of random people, kids, beheaded for rituals in Ibadan. I have kids and I'm worried for them. Has it been stopped?

Lagos. But he's scarcely in one place. If I relocate to join him in south west, there are chances he visits during the weekends rather than stay away from the family for months.
So, even if I move to Lagos, it doesn't guarantee I see him everyday

Spanishmilf is spot on. I'll pick Oyo(Ibadan) without thinking twice. I feel like it's a slightly better version of Lagos.
Family friendly, less traffic with relatively laid back people.

TBVh no where is safe in the world, they are some petty thieves, hungry looking thieves and again having a barking dog in the house will scare away intruders

There are some parts of Ibadan that enjoys electricity supply e.g Challenge, Felele, Oluyole Estate and so many others. I've not really stayed in Lagos but I know electricity supply depends on the environment too same thing as Sagamu.

Hi I am also thinking of relocating to south west .I am reading comments quietly.meanwhile you look like someone I've met before .

Ibadan is your best bet it has a perfect distance proximity to all the States you mentioned, choose Ibadan with less traffic, House rent and school are OK and moderately priced too compare to Lagos. Lala should pls help this woman push this to Frontpage to gain more advice from people.

Ibadan is the best but it all depends on your choice the rituals and other things you hear about Ibadan are also rampant in other states. for electricity someone has given you locations where you will enjoy fairly good hours of electricity

It still remain the safest/cheapest out of all state in the South West and also with less traffic when compared to Lagos

If you're coming from Kano, anywhere in the SW is just fine.
But note, women here don't just sit at home (like in Kano), but rather they work or trade and do things by themselves. Your husband is exposed to these breed of women and quietly appreciate them. So please do the same and be up and doing when you get here to really enjoy your marriage.

You haven't stated your reason?

Abeokuta (Ogun state) is central to all the states your husband is covering, I think you should look at settling there. It's cool and quiet. Ibadan too is an option.

Security-wise, I would advise you live within a gated estate community with neighbors around as it feels more secured that way.

In Ogun state, you can also start thinking of building your own house. Lagos is over bustling with activities, good for just visits.
