When Mr Ambassador visited, the Nigerian inmates were called to have a chat with him. During the chat he asked three out of the bunch their names (coincidentally they were from same ethnicity) and when they replied, Mr Ambassador shrugged and said "why are your people always embarrassing Nigeria"?

Can you imagine that level of unprofessionalism?

the consulate is meant to provide help for all Nigerians in foreign country. they are there to assist those Nigerians who have problem with their papers not to live expensive lifestyle.

But you can’t expect the embassy to go against the law of the land or aid immigration illegality just because they want to help Nigerian citizens.
What i can deduce here is that this man doesnt have legal permit to continue stay in Norway. I myself live in Norway and i have been living here for more than 10 years. In summary, this guy is being economical with the truth

anyone who refuses to assist nigerians in the commission of evil/illegal activity automatically becomes a bad person to them...

i won't even talk about a certain nigerian tribe whose members account for at least 95% of the narcotics activity attributable to nigerian citizens all over the globe

If this truly happened, and the inmates were nabbed for real crimes (not mere suspicion), then the Ambassador was well in his right for asking them this question (I assume he was not being tribal).

Even you and me MAY be guilty of this sentiment too.

As citizens of a (Mostly) Poor Nation, Caused in part by bad leaderships, Our International image evoke contempt from other Nationals. You'll generally have to do a lot to beat this perception.

You also have to accept to suffer some inconveniences (as regards rights to citizens of these other countries) as a result of being an "Outsider".

Nigerians (Certainly not all) commiting crimes or "Disturbing the peace" in these mostly homogeneous white countries also make matters worse for us all.

The long/short of it is that the reputation of these criminal few are extended to us all. At times they (these foreigners also have contempt for our leaders too. They may not show it much because those ones spend there and do not permanently live there)

Ultimately, All Nigerians should know that their actions have an effect on those coming behind them.

Some of these people entered those countries illegally and now want help from the consulate. Of course the consulate must cooperate with the local authorities in such cases. If not, innocent travelers with genuine papers will be affected when sweeping laws are passed to prevent all immigration to those countries.

Even if a Nigerian commit crime outside the shores of Nigeria,the duty of our consular officers is to stand and see the offender is not maltreated. Due process is pass when the judgement is carry out,the best people that have human sympathy in our embassies are the Hausa they defend Nigerians but Yoruba and Igbo consular officials will leave Nigerians to suffer even if they are been cheated. Am opportune to work with Nigeria ambassadors and consular,I know how other Yoruba and Igbo diplomats ridicule Nigerians when they need our diplomatic assistant l.
