It's good to also note that half block is counted as one full block. So you may supply 500 blocks to site, but may end up paying 530 for example. So it is the setting of the block they count per say instead of the actual block. If you supply 500 blocks to site, don't expect to pay for 500 blocks.

I don’t pay half block as one that is over paying the bricklayer. If I supply 500blocks, I will pay for the 500blocks and make sure it is used there.

Cement Offloading Stealing (Watch)
It is a general phenomenon that Cement can be counted from the surface, but it will be dangerous to know that what you see in the surface is different from what is inside.

Step 1: during offloading the off loaders will request for pure water or something to take you off from location at the completion of 1st role, then their evil work will start a bag of will be crossed over two lines thereby 1bag is off before you arrive they will cover it up, that can be done as many as possible times.

Step 2: after the 1st role in the middle the a bag will be placed vertically, thereby automatically removing 1bag, when looking from the top you assume all are of same height.

What to watch for after offloading check every part of the truck, tapolin , they will woo you they have some bags to sell, they only trying to sell your goods to you.
Good Day, I have seen you have been beaten down here for a while. Have you learned your lesson to uplift yourself again. Are you ready for business without stories or drama. How much is your 30 tons of your red filling sand? Same location where you delivered granite before in Ikorodu.

I get you... Thanks.

So N50 per block is the fair going rate? Location: Lagos

erico2k2:

Might be but trusted me from the eyes of a prospective landlord, stick to block counting, its easier to account for, that being said, you will be shortchanged anyhow you monitor but at least you know the figures U paid for when you count!

we provide structural and Building integrity test services .
After the test you would be issued a test report signed and sealed by a COREN and CORBON Registered Engineer /Builder.
Duration is usually between 2- 3days for residential . Large scale project can take up to a week, depends on the building size.

Note: Becareful when carrying out block setting, you need a strict supervision, bricklayers will break block & put in holes. Upon forming personal count blocks used & put variation. if not bricklayer may push you to buy more blocks or waste your materials (cement & sand).

This means you pay block setting fee also for the broken/waste blocks.
I'll try to use the total block set to compute payment.

- pay for carrying the total number of blocks and
- pay for setting only the blocks counted on the wall (i.e. less the waste)

that is what i'll propose... major savings with over 20k blocks to set.

Please house I need advice
Which is better
Install railings before fixing tiles or fix tiles before railings

your best bet is - INSTALL TILES then come back to railing later..

reason is simple - TILING is going to alter a lot of levels, when all levels are in place, you know how your railing wld look like... offcourse the rail installer might need to drill or remove 1, 2 or 3 tiles - but that quantity is so minute, you wont even feel it - just have your stock pile (extra tiles) handy.

This is good advice if you did not do German floor. Another angle to this is one of the reasons why German floor is recommended. Do German floor, you will have the same level throughout the house. Then you can do railings including burglary proof BEFORE tilling. You need security as soon as possible to store materials on site. This advantage you may not have if you wait to do tiling before railings.

Good point from you ,but at 1st you don’t need to tiles the point where the stair railing legs will be erected or you can leave a whole roll in that section without tiling it, then after the railing you will now tiled the portion.
But at time I do tiled the whole area bcs I do give my workers Diamond cutter to drill the railing leg point when railings comes in.

Don't let hunger control what you say on Nairaland. Deep down in your heart you know it's not possible
6units of 1bedroom ,excluding the rooms, thats 6 sitting rooms and 6kitchen.

N5m can't build a 3bedroom bungalow not to talk of of 6units of 1bedroom flat.

If I say yes! I have my own reason! Not hunger or something! I just finished a low cost 3 rooms with two toilets, I knew how much it took me. For me to say yes I have my reason.

Moreover my own interpretation of what he wrote was just a room with a toilet and a kitchen.
