that is part of freewill... some are stupid not to hold their ground and think especially in Africans, others in America can think... so if anyone is stupid enough to want to use money to buy heaven then he made a legaly purchase which he should be happy with afterall all Biblical verses, Torah of Jews and Islamic Quran are all online and dunce Africans choose not to read and understand
At least you agree that Oyedepo is thus a crook that prey over the stupidity of the people. Very good. Now, if you want to celebrate that as a noteworthy achievement of one of the great yoruba people, feel free. I prefer to rather celebrate great yoruba men such as fela kuti (and his son Seun Kuti), Femi Falana, Soyinka Wole and other similar great men.

Cheers.

Even as a grad of a fed Uni, I must admit that covenant Uni is head above shoulders in tertiary education in Nigeria compared to the past glory fed and state Universities. They really deserve the ranking. I pray they achieve higher heights
Well said. May you achieve greatness too.

I laugh when people celebrate characters like Fela, it is a known fact that many individuals took to hard drugs due to Fela"s influence and have their destiny destroyed forever. what is there to ceberste about him , you can celebrate him by praying that your children live the kind of life Fela lived. Yes, thing is CU would continue to widen the gap on Times Higher. CU would be unbeatable in the next 10 years unless Fed govt infuses at least 30 billion naira extra annual cash for UI.

UI peaks its research deposit at 1135 from 114 departments in 2019, Covenant did 1400 on the same Scopus from only 32 department. Now the consequence of that kind of difference would have impact till 2023.

Example, when UI produces 1000 academic publications and CU does like 250 they are like equal in the eyes of QS, ARWU and Times because CU has 1/3 of UI's department. Under no circumstance should Covenant equal UI on quantity of research.

The problem was since 2002 no university has ever surpassed UI in academic publications - this gave UI mad reputation - but made them complacent especially since UNN, Unilag where no where near UI. 2012 Oyedepo wanted to compete and infused cash and the rankings started reading different stories because UI's success was still mediocre and beatable.

Currently, there's another mad funding for CU central labs which indicates Covenant is looking to reach 2000 publications. At 2000 CU would depose Uni of Cpetown.

There's a small way for UI to fight back - Tetfund. If UI can access much of the research fund it can still fight back. It won't win but would close the gap.
Talking about Tetfund driving UI's research financially, here is an interesting editorial from Guardian.

The idea of private universities is clearly opening eyes. Mediocrity had been our excellence for so long and people are sceptical when they hear of a private university excelling above the much 'respected' public ones.
