igbesachick:
out of some vagary, i tried to be HONEST, which means i renounced my foreigner prerogative by sitting in the cabin my lowest class ticket designated me to sit in, instead of as usual jumping on a higher class cabin and playing dumb and facing off the officious conductor, or just paying the upgrading fee.

today, i sat 12 hours. HELL was loose ! so harsh, so painful ! the seat, the noise, the sweat, the crowdedness.

people even jibed me when i kept saying sorry looking for a way to go and back from the toilet. they mocked my tone of saying sorry. i had to be LOCKED in the toilet for 20 minutes, they would not allow me to come back before the next station.......exhausted....indian grassroots....

These people are racists AF. Locked u up in a toilet for 20mins. I hope the toilet was in a healthy condition

on my way back to delhi.

Re: 28 Days, 10000 Miles, Railway In India by igbesachick: 12:18am On Feb 21, 2020
everytime when the train crossed the border of states , they would stay for at least 10 mimutes to wait for orders. but when coming into three biggest cities, mumbai, delhi and kolkata, the trains waited half an hour.

i was waiting outside delhi. a farmer-turned-worker sitting opposite to me.

Re: 28 Days, 10000 Miles, Railway In India by igbesachick: 12:22am On Feb 21, 2020
in afternoon, arrived in old delhi station. this one was as giant as new delhi station. both were connected with metro.

Re: 28 Days, 10000 Miles, Railway In India by igbesachick: 12:26am On Feb 21, 2020
out of the station, i was immediately harrassed by touts . i looked obviously like a tourist. they wished me to stay in their hotels, but my aim was firm, tonight i would stay in a tibetan refugee's house.

a "deluxe toilet" located before the station.

Re: 28 Days, 10000 Miles, Railway In India by igbesachick: 12:30am On Feb 21, 2020
skillfully turned to the metro. i did not need to look at the map this time.

but the tibetan colony was far and with inconvenient tranport situation.

i needed to take metro and then a rickshaw for twenty minutes

Re: 28 Days, 10000 Miles, Railway In India by igbesachick: 12:36am On Feb 21, 2020
out of the metro, i tried to gain direction from a couple of tibetan . the husband who could not speak english pushed me to his wife who told me and the rickshaw driver where that place was .

this never gonna happen among indian couples. each time i asked a indian female for direction, the male would chime in and voluntarily say something , no matter how worse his english was than the woman.

obviously, tibetans are more open minded and developed.

Re: 28 Days, 10000 Miles, Railway In India by igbesachick: 12:55am On Feb 21, 2020
the 20 minute rickshaw ride was more thrilling than a roller coaster.

reversely riding a rickety thing among furiously darting cars. i dare not put my hands on the armrails, i did not want them to be pared off by the cars which passed by by a hair's breadth.

i made it to the colony

the central square with a tent , served as a place for people to gather and chat in leisure time.

big sutra rotater. such a lazy way to pray to god. it is said to rotate it one time equals to read their "bible" for one time. maybe this thing exists in a religion which holds a large population of illiterates.

the god of tibetans, a living person, dalai lama . he lives somewhere in india, but definitely not in this poor slum clogged by his supposed subjects.

amyway, i was a bit ashamed of my curiosity-hunting purpose in this community. kind of gloating over their political insecurity.

i slept in this small hotel tonight.

a bunch of chinese buddhist nuns hoarded in the hall . they giggled . they were outcast in china. female, religious, from rural chinese province told by their reddish faces, naive or i should say imbecilic, dialect speaking, they must be the pariah in chinese caste system. that explains why they felt so relieved in another country.

the immaculate toilet, guess few indians live here, that is why it sparks with light. after the nightmare of indian toilets, i feel i can lick this one with my tongue.

tibetan making chinese starchy snack. many indian girls enjoyed this food.

cold, a little elastic, soft, with or without spice. rice rolls. i think this is not tibetan cuisine, it is a chinese food . whatever.

the tibetans living in india without the sunburn in their plateau, look even whiter than most chinese. funny. in china, tibetan are looked down on for being dark.

as infidels in india, tibetans eat PORK.

these are pork sausages. very welcomed among HYPOCRITIC indians who love pig meat as every healthy human being but forbidden to consume it out of political or religious reasons.

200 naira for several sausages. bit salty. tasted so-so to me. but to indians, they are "titbits".

typical tibetan thing.

funny is , this refugee colony is kind of a hideout for indian young lovers.

I just saw this thread and I followed and read from the first page to the current. The OP is doing an amazing job. But I actually don't see any difference between Nigeria and India. Everywhere and everything seems so rough and dirty. You must be really coping there.

early morning, but it was 41 degree. the hottest record in history for Lagos was 39 degree.

daily average temperature in Lagos is 23 to 30 year round. you can not imagine what 40 to 48 feels like.
