His defense lawyers, in their own argument said his crimes were not committed in US or against US interests and sought for dismissal due to lack of jurisdiction.

The interpretation of that is he committed the crime elsewhere.

US have extradition agreement with UK. They can ship him there.

The lawyers should argue instead for a protection against double jeopardy, so that when he finishes serving prison in US he does not have to face trial in UK for same offense.

Prisoners in UK convicted of similar crime wish they were in US serving time.
