Please @Gazuzz, can you give hints on Nigerian used Toyota Highlander 2008-2010? What are the things to look out for when buying one? I know you’ve talked of 2001-2007. Thanks!
Re: Are There Cheap Nigerian Used Cars? by Selfkontrol: 7:56am On Feb 24, 2020
@Gazuzz pls can you advice me on a good car to buy for Uber and personal use? My budget is around 1.4-1.6
I was advised to get a 2007 Corolla sport or a 4plug Toyota spider but that price can’t get it as a good toks is about 1.8-2m for the Corolla
Is it advisable to buy a Nigerian used 2007 Corolla? Or a spider (4plugs) If not please advice me on the best car around my budget that’s not less than 2006 with good fuel economy and and not so bad interior that won’t give me much problems.
I don’t know anything about cars and this would be my first car. Thank you

on no condition should you buy a Nigerian used corolla bro, most have been bastardized yet they always come with "clean, nothing to fix corolla" sale headline. Please stay away. I will suggest you up your budget to say 1.8 - 2m or so, I'm sure you will get a very clean direct tokunbo with that, you don't want to have a problem car as your first, the frustration is not of this world. I don't know much about cars too, but this is the gospel

thanks bro. I understand most Nigerian used cars are death trap but I just have to find something to get. That’s my budget right now. I can’t afford anything more than that for car and I don’t intend to wait because the car is needed urgently. I planned to go with atleast two mechanics. I’m sure I can get a clean car. Even if it’s camry

Buy any you fancy both of them are identical in parts. But I would advice the Pilot due to the transmission of the mdx is sensitive

i think you can use your other account, but first, go to heritage bank and confirm if that account is active..dont tell them the reason why..

Also go to access and try to clear yourself

Hello @GAZZUZZ,

Good morning. Please I need your honest opinion on Nigerian used Honda Odyssey 2005-2010 vs Toyota Sienna 2004-2010 models.

A lot of persons including mechanics are advising me against going for a Honda Odyssey irrespective of the year. The reasons most of them are giving is that Honda Odyssey has:

>>Leg problems

>>Gear Issues

>>Engine issues. They claimed that the engine sits close to the ground hence it is prone to coming in friction with the floor which usually leads to engine damage. How true is that?

>>Expensive parts which are also not available.

Thank you

Gazuzz:
Toyota Corolla 2002-2007

I am starting with this because it seems to be the most popular Nigerian used vehicle on this platform.

Most people are of the opinion that it only comes with the standard 1zz-fe engine, but this vehicle has a variation of engine types depending on what region on the globe the vehicle came from.

Engine types

Powertrain
Engine
1.3L I4 2NZ-FE
1.4L I4 4ZZ-FE
1.5L I4 1NZ-FE
1.6L I4 1ZR-FE
1.6L I4 3ZZ-FE
1.8L I4 1ZZ-FE
1.8L I4 2ZZ-GE
1.4L I4 1ND-TV D-4D diesel
2.0L I4 1CD-FTV D-4D diesel

Foreign used Corolla prices for the 2003-2007 vary from 1.5m to as much as 2.2m

So why are you getting a cheap deal on that Nigerian used Corolla ? Let's discuss.

1.Extensive wear and tear to body engine and suspension parts

It is an ex Ehailing vehicle (Uber tins): vehicles used for Ehailing usually suffer the worst type of abuse that can be given to a vehicle. Extended oil change intervals, poor suspension setup, varying degrees of body dents and scratches usually covered up with poor paint work.

Engines with sludge, multiple gasket changes and compromised/abused air-conditioning systems are not uncommon.

2. Stolen vehicle: this needs no explanation

3. Converted vehicle : vehicle conversions from right to left hand drive are very common in this part of the world, usually poorly done and will tend to have electrical and air-conditioning issues, also a very uncomfortable cabin with the windows wound up, you would perceive a lot from the outside while inside the vehicle .

4. Extensive rust: Flooded cars and cars from icy regions in the USA, Europe and Canada are very cheap, most times a first time buyer realizes late and only realizes the extent of damage when car is due for suspension repair work, owner then decided to resell vehicle.

5. Engine issues. Replacing the engine of the regular 1zz-fe hovers around 200-300k depending on what you are buying and who is installing it, usually most people just factor in that loss and out up the car for sale when engine becomes defective (oil burn, rattling sounds , knocking sounds, smoking)

6. Frustration: when you invest your 2m on a good Corolla and give it out for rental hoping to get 30,000 a week from a driver only for him to default serially within 6months and work up a repair bill which is almost at par with his weekly delivery.... You know the rest cheesy

7. Relocation: when Baba God pics your call and you escape from this change you can sell your Corolla very cheap and say bye bye Nigeria wink (these are good deals if genuine )

8. Vehicle upgrades. When you are tired of using your reliable Corolla that you have had for 5years and want to upgrade to a nissan pathfinder 2008 lipsrsealed

9. Sever electrical abuse: electrical abuse can be very frustrating, and when wiring and fuseboxes have been compromised cars can be out up for sale.

10. Fear, you witnessed your friends vehicle stolen at gun point , he nearly escaped unhurt , you have same brand of vehicle... Tomorrow you list it for sale and buy a Volvo cc valarinz

More vehicles loading... Feel free to add urs

How good are 2ZZ-GE , a friend wants to buy a 2zz xrs, naija used
