Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie hosts Hollywood actress Lupita Nyong’o in Lagos (photos)

Award-winning writer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie hosted Kenyan-born Hollywood actress, Lupita Nyong’o in Lagos on Saturday, February 22.

The private reception hosted in honour of Lupita Nyong’o, was attended by some well known Nigerians in the entertainment industry which include D’banj, Dakore Egbuson-Akande, Omawumi, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Toolz, Femi Kuti, Seun Kuti, Ebuka, Flavour, Bovi and many others.

Lupita Nyong’o’s visit is coming ahead screening of Americanah, a television series adaptation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s acclaimed novel of the same title. The book also won the 2013 National Book Critics Circle Fiction award.

Kenyan Lupita Nyong’o stars as the lead character (Ifemelu) in the ten-episode HBO series which was directed by ‘The Walking Dead’ star, Danai Gurira.

‘Americanah’ tells the story of Ifemelu (Nyong’o), a young, beautiful, self-assured woman raised in Nigeria, who as a teenager falls in love with her classmate Obinze.

Igbos are doing their biz in each and every country/state/city in the world and have town union meetings too which they attend. They organize events, do charity and generally take care of the community they reside in.

Ask lupita who she buys her pro African attires from and it’s probably a Nigerian and a high probability it’s an igboid Igbo ipob etc. people like lupita don’t shop in regular boutiques as her tailor must come based on recommendation.

I don’t blame her, she should learn the language so she can haggle better and stop falling mugu when she’s shopping.
