Some Americans have taken to social to react and deny knowing super star, Davido. SleekGist reports.

The pop artist who is currently in America was at a basketball game over the weekend and got special recognition by the home team. Americans have now reacted to the shout out given to Nigerian singer,

The singer who is set to begin his American tour next month was a spectator at the NBA clash between Washington Wizards and Cleveland Cavaliers at the Capital One Arena, Washington DC.

The Blow my mind crooner was featured on the Arena Screen while the commentator introduced him as singer, songwriter, and recording producer. The home team further took the recognition to their social media page but most of their fans began to wonder who Davido really was.

Some Americans and fans of the Basketball team claimed they don’t know Davido. And were surprised to find out that the singer has over 15 million followers on his Instagram page. See their reactions below..

The percentage of illiterates in America is higher than what we have in Nigeria.
Some of them still think Africa is a country. Their ignorance is top notch.
An average Nigerian can name Capital of most countries but ask an American or European capital of some American or European countries, then you'll understand my point.
Ignorant fools!!

That a handful of myopic young Americans said they don't know Davido, doesn't make any difference. Davido is who he is: a boldly shining Star! That's it.

lol... developed countries are too busy doing them to care a shít about what you are doing in your own country

Most Americans have never left America because really what is out there that ain't in America?

Nigeria could have been like that too if the momentum of the 70s were maintained by buhari, Abacha and ibb...the three menaces that killed Nigeria

Sad is that one of them is still calling the shot today because some people felt 'marginalised' by PDP

Most people from Botswana, Namibia and SA have also not bothered about any other countries...they are busy developing their space.

We can't even get basic legislations like state police passed because some people are afraid they can no longer do any how in the south...sad

What momentum are you talking about?

In 1983, when the military took over Nigeria was at its worst ever.

From the New York Times of May, 1983:

The most recent figures for Nigeria's cash reserves, for January of this year, were $1.3 billion - enough to finance only about a month of imports - and some analysts believe that reserves have dwindled to virtually nothing in the few months since then. Different Approaches

but it was in those 70s that the following was done

1. Establishment of NNPC with 4 refineries
2. Building of high ways
3. Establishment of many federal universities
4 Nitel, NEPA,
5. Abuja
6. 19 viable states
7. Enthronement of merit in public service
8. Unity schools
9. Nysc
10. Return to presidential democracy
A whole lot of other progressive establishments.

What do we have now? 36 states that can't pay salaries or minimum wage

Who is talking about the 70's?

We are talking about Nigeria's situation just before military intervention.

In any case, those positives you posted above were from the same military headed by the same people you castigated earlier - Obasanjo and Buhari.

you still don't get the point...I wrote in my first post that the momentum of the 70s were not maintained by buhari, ibb and Abacha....I don't care who started the momentum...but I am sure that had it been maintained by these three in the 80s and 90s or had they left shagari alone, we won't be this bad now

shagari was a democratically elected government....if he failed... you remove him through the ballot...

How do you remove a failed military government....yea...the type that Abacha, ibb and buhari turned out to be?

He was a legitimate institution that shouldn't have been tampered with... how do you not know this?

The premise here is that they Nigeria would have been better for it, and that I strongly disagree with.

All the negatives of today's democracy were evident at the time and so I ask what is your grouse?

if buhari didn't truncate the gains of 1970s by instituting tyranny, we would not have had Abacha, ibb and the unfortunate events of June 12 which saw Nigeria sanctioned by Europe and America and chaos unleashed everywhere. We would have had 41 years of democracy which could potentially mean that by now all major zones of Nigeria would have produced president and agitations would have reduced. there would have been Balance of strength between the north and south. We would have had 19 strong states.

Was it not eventually a democratic government led by Obasanjo and ngozi okonjo that saw those 1980s debts cleared.

Tell us what exactly buhari achieved by overthrowing shagari. And since our democracy is still flawed today, would it be okay by you if buhari gets overthrown?

Nigeria paid up because, a new vista on global economics was taking place - globalisation.

Tell us what Eduardo dos Santos, a democratically elected president has done for Angola.
