Lent prayers from all of us @........
Almighty and ever living God,
you invite us deeper into your world, your people, your Lent.
May this time be one of outward focus;
seeking you in those we often ignore.
Help us live a Lent focused on freedom, generosity, and encounter.
Give us hearts hungry to serve you
and those who need what we have to give.
While fasting with the body,
brothers and sisters,
let us also fast in spirit.
Let us lose every bond of iniquity;
let us undo the knots of every contact made by violence;
let us tear up all unjust agreements;
let us give bread to the hungry
and welcome to our house
the poor who have no roof to cover them,
that we may receive mercy from Christ our God.

And lastly, let us put our darling country (Nigeria) in prayers.
May God answer our prayers in this month of Lent.
Prayers going up..........

May God give us the strength to avoid all temptations and may we have the heart to fast,pray and give. Amen.

This should be a Christian's normal lifestyle. We shouldn't have to wait till Ash Wednesday or a memo from our general overseer.
That's what differentiates religious christianity from a relationship Christianity.

Only observed in the Eastern region by igbo ipob Catholics since Catholicism is the major Religion in the south east.
I don't like them neither do I see them as Christians but rather an occult.

What is religious Christianity and what is relationship Christianity?

Even Jesus celebrated the Sabbath day and celebrated the Passover feast of the Jewish religion.

Don't let's be more Christian than Christ Himself.

There's nothing wrong in setting aside 40 days to fast and pray and do penance in commemoration of the 40-day fast of Jesus in the wilderness.

Besides, it's been a practice in the Catholic Church for over 1,500 years, so...

Wish my Catholic family a new day of salvation as we begin lent today.

Don't go back to your old life after the lent though. That is where we get it all wrong

No it's not.

I know you want to insult Ibos and what you perceive as their religion.

You are wrong on both counts.

Catholicism is practiced by over 1 billion people around the world.

And what's the point in insulting a whole people and their religion because of some online miscreants?

You may not like the religion, a sensible person will walk by instead of spewing hatred against what he is ignorant of.

You don't see Catholics as Christians, but it is only the Catholic Church that can trace its history all the way down to the Apostles.

If there was a true Christian Church, that would be the Catholic Church.

Other mushroom churches founded by men who say they heard the word of God seem suspect to me.

Judas Iscariot was a disciple and one of the original Twelve Disciples of Jesus Christ. According to all four canonical gospels, Judas betrayed Jesus to the Sanhedrin in the Garden of Gethsemane by kissing him and addressing him as "rabbi" to reveal his identity to the crowd who had come to arrest him. So who are responsible for Crucifixion Jesus? Any i-pots members to answer my question..

In Matt 26:2, Jesus said .....As they were eating, He said, "Truly I say to you that one of you will betray Me."

Because Jesus already knew this from the beginning when he said said..

"But there are some of you who do not believe " For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who it was that would betray Him. (John 6:64)

How did Jesus know? Because it was already written thousands of years before he was born.

"The Son of Man is to go, just as it is written of Him; but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born."

Where was it written in the scripture?

“And I said unto them, If you think good, give me my hire; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my hire thirty pieces of silver. And Jehovah said unto me, Cast it unto the potter, the goodly price that I was prized at by them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them unto the potter, in the house of Jehovah” (Zechariah 11:12-13).

As you can see, Jesus was betrayed according to the scripture.

The significance of this is for the unbelievers to believe every words written in the holy scripture, Bible.

During lent they stay away from sin only to return to it with full force on easter day- the day christ died to liberate humanity from the bondage of sin. IT IS HYPOCRISY TO OBSERVE LENT WHEN YOU ARE YET TO PURGE YOUR MIND OF SIN.
Re: Today Is Ash Wednesday; Beginning Of Lent by kayuseful: 9:40am On Feb 26, 2020
If na play,abeg stop am.
In Christianity, there's no "time to abstain from sin or fornication". The Christ life does not even have any such.

BTW methinks lent should be commemorated by feasting. Our Lord Jesus was a feaster and He asked no one to fast, not even His disciples were taught to fast. Anyway, our bridegroom is here, so na to dey chop

Question for the day : Why is WEDNESDAY chosen for the marking of ASH,and not other days?

Please I need someone to answer this question.. It's bothering me all this while..

Q. If the date when we celebrate the birth of Jesus was selected, why couldn’t we select a permanent date for Easter?

Kiatmookao is unbeaten in eight straight fights. He claimed the interim GLORY featherweight title by defeating Kevin VanNostrand at GLORY 55 before becoming the undisputed champion with a win over Glory 75 Petch vs Adamchuk live Robin van Roosmalen at GLORY 59.
