Liverpool is the kind of team this ATM is programmed to defend against; teams that cross into the box. Its no coincidence they couldn't register a single shot on target in the first leg. I see the same thing repeating itself at Anfield. All ATM needs to do is not lose their heads. If they can soak up the pressure, they will hit them on the counter and possibly get a goal or 2. All the better now they have Diego Costa back.

Liverpool does not have creative players in the middle that can carve open a tight defensive structure, so they are bound to suffer when they play against such teams. They rely so much on the marauding influences of their fullbacks, serving as creative outlets in the final third. Against a disciplined defense with a thuggish midfield, they would flatter to deceive.

I don hang boot before but I had to come out of retirement for this.

Ronaldo has been crowded more times than you can count. Attached images.

The best players have multiple opponents on them to cut out space. Everyone gets the same treatment from Iniesta to KDB to Dybala.

There is nothing special about a #10 who's sphere of influence is at the center of pitch having multiple players around him. Where the f*ck do you want the players to be? Whenever Ronaldo is in a position to receive the ball at the middle of the pitch, plenty of players are also around him. When he drifts wide as a primary winger, two men are on him, even though there's just the byline and space is tight.

Watch his games.

No normal player will give Messi, CR7, Neymar, or any elite player space in the modern game if they can help it.

So throw those images in the bin. And stop disgracing people who have more than average knowledge of football.

No, Messi shouldn't be surrounded in the middle third of the pitch. The opposition players should band together at the corner flag. Sometimes the way you guys reason, e b like say na fufu full una head.

As for Ronaldo in the penalty box. Take today's match for instance. He put in at least two superb crosses into the box (chances created), no one could connect to them. But if he's the one at the receiving end in the box, it suddenly becomes a problem.

Why should a 6 foot 2 super-athlete who's the best header in the game not occupy the box? Precisely who should take his place?

Even Dybala and Higuain had tap in opportunities, they couldn't get it on target. Ronaldo gets same opportunities and scores, that becomes a problem.

Both Messi and Ronaldo have honed their games over a decade and play to their strengths. That's why Messi is stat-padding his assist tally by taking corner kicks, while Ronaldo stays in the box to head in corner-kicks because of his height. That's how you guys were complaining about Marcelo-Ronaldo cross-and-nod connection. But not once have I ever heard a complaint about the Messi-Alba lob-pass-cut-back connection.

In no way, shape, or form is Messi better than Ronaldo because Messi has mastered the art of playing through the middle thanks to his long stay at Barcelona. Ronaldo has been there and done that under Ferguson. Instead, CR7 mastered the art of stealth goalscoring. Where you can surround him with players all game long, but just one perfectly measured cross and like a cheat he can tower above and put the ball at the back of the net. EOD!

You're pretty wrong here. ATM isn't a team programmed to defend swinging crosses in the box. They defend better against a barcelona-esque team that just tap the ball around the pitch looking for a way to penetrate through the middle.

They played well in the first leg by shutting down Liverpool's RB abit. But still the crosses were coming in.

Reason why ATM were pushing for a killer 2nd goal. Because they know that lone goal advantage is nothing vs LIVERPOOL..

make we win Clasico fess cheesy cheesy cheesy

"Manchester City taught a lesson in how to beat this Real Madrid side on Wednesday night, and Quique Setien was there to see it.

The Barcelona boss was at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu to watch the Champions League tie ahead of Sunday's Clasico.

Setien was joined in the stands by assistant Eder Sarabia as they conducted a scouting trip on Zinedine Zidane's side.

He would've noticed City's success in attacking Real Madrid's left side and also noted the threat that Vinicius Junior can bring."

I guess out capitulation against Liverpool has made us think that Liverpool are some gods on the pitch.

Same Liverpool wey Napoli and Psg finish?

The best Liverpool can play Athleti is a draw or a One goal margin of victory.

Haaland has more goals than entire Real Madrid forward line

The eight forwards who have represented Los Blancos this season have managed just 38 goals between them, two less than the Norwegian international. Only Karim Benzema has acceptable numbers this term, with his return of 18 goals, although this is still far behind the teenage sensation who took Paris Saint-Germain apart in the Champions League. Rodrygo has seven, Gareth Bale, Lucas Vazquez and Vinicius with three goals, Luka Jovic with two, and Brahim Diaz and Eden Hazard with one each. Mariano Diaz is not counted has he has only played two games.

Ter Stegen and the 20 saves that have kept Barcelona's European hopes alive

Ter Stegen has made 20 saves, 18 of which were from shots from inside the box, and these figures further highlight his importance to the team. To put it in context, no other goalkeeper has had to intervene that often in the competition so far this season. Thibaut Courtois has made eight saved, while Jan Oblak has completed six, with Keylor Navas and Alisson Becker making nine apiece.

Well, Stegen the only one keeping us in the UCL

You are being unfair to the team when you make this kind of claims. Football is a team effort. Goal Keepers would be required to make a save when the need arises, as much as the strikers would be required to score a goal so matches could be won. It takes all the eleven men in the pitch, to tango

Your choice tho. But what am saying basically is that i only see madrid as a fierce rival in laliga only, except if they are playing against barca or any other laliga team in an european competition. In addition, i will support barca or any laliga team in ucl same way i am supporting atletico(not because i want to get back at liverpool). and hoping valencia could bring forth a miracle at the the mestalla. Lastly, do u want to tell me as a laliga ethusiast you have never boasted of how real madrid won the ucl three times consecutively or how sevilla won the uel three times consecutively also, when argueing with epl supporters. Even on the madrid vs man city thread last night a liverpool fan stated and i quote "bring the trophy to england". What am trying to say is this i will rather take trolling from madrid fans than the entire epl fans and still boast of the UCL trophy in spain.

i'm being realistic.

Stegen has 20 saves, what dafuq are our defenders doing to keep him that exposed?
Stegen 20, next is Courtois with 8. That's almost 3ce as much.

1. Barcelona.
2. Any club playing against Real Madrid.

I think that we are always very very very unfair to our defenders.

These defenders maintain a high line in the name of tiki taka.
Pique, Alba and Umtiti always join in the attack in the name of tiki taka.

And when we lose the ball the pressure is on them to retreat back and maintain the shape.

Are they machines or what?

In our case, the entire team is to blame for our defensive woes.
