President Trump has nominated General Charles Brown to be the next head of the Air Force.

He will be the first African-American to hold this job.

This is historic!

Trump is the Worst. Racist. Ever. grin
Gen. Charles Q. Brown, Jr was nominated by the Trump administration to become chief of staff Monday, an honor that would see him as the Air Force's first African-American service chief.

If Brown is confirmed for the elite position by the Senate, he will become the highest ranking officer in the Air Force and oversee all units within the military branch.

Brown, 58, would also sit among the Joint Chief of Staff in the Department of Defense, which advises the President, secretary of defense, the Homeland Security Council and the National Security Council on military affairs.

Under the chief of staff position, Brown would also continue the Air Force's transition to focus efforts on defusing clashes with countries like Russia and China.

Brown will take command of an Air Force in transition, one moving from a decades-long priority on combating and containing terrorism to a new era of Great Power Competition,' the Air Force said.

He has been an Air Force officer since 1984 and is a four-star F-16 pilot who has served several combat tours throughout Asia, the Middle East and Europe.

Nice!
I see him getting a speedy confirmation from the Senate

Now to the fabled Socialized healthcare

When they talk about this, they forget to mention about the wait times

Is it not better to have healthcare and be in debt than to die on waiting lists

Below are stories of Canadians who couldnt see doctors after months in Canada, many drive south to the US to get healthcare. Is this what America wants with socialized healthcare? Waiting months to see a doctor

https://torontosun.com/news/national/canadians-continue-to-leave-the-country-for-health-care-says-new-report

Socialism is evil
Fake news. Shaky statistics and unreliable source. The shady thinktank that conducted the study relies totally on donations. Interesting.

This is socialized healthcare in Canada

TORONTO — WHEN SHARON Shamblaw was diagnosed last summer with a form of blood cancer that could only be treated with a particular stem cell transplant, the search for a donor began. A Toronto hospital, 100 miles east of her home in St. Mary's, Ontario, and one of three facilities in the province that could provide the life-saving treatment, had an eight-month waiting list for transplants.

Four months after her diagnosis, Shamblaw headed to Buffalo, New York, for treatment. But it was too late. She died at the age of 46, leaving behind a husband and three children

Ontario, the country's most populous province, provides a good example. The three hospitals that use stem-cell therapy to treat patients with blood disorders and aggressive cancers like the one that Sharon Shamblaw battled are unable to keep up with the soaring demand. So patients are sent to medical facilities in Buffalo, Cleveland, Ohio, and Detroit, Michigan, for the potentially life-saving treatment.

https://www.usnews.com/news/best-countries/articles/2016-08-03/canadians-increasingly-come-to-us-for-health-care

So this fantastic Canada healthcare cannot care for its people that it sends them Southwards to the evil US

Is this the type of healthcare that America wants?

Socialism is evil
Please, read your own sources- here is a quote from your own link;

The Commonwealth Fund, a U.S. think tank, released a report two years ago ranking Canada 10th out of 11 wealthy nations in terms of health care. Only the United States fared worse. The report, based largely on satisfaction surveys by patients and health-care providers, placed Canada last in timeliness of care. The United Kingdom was ranked No. 1

The United states of America has the worst in ranking of healthcare.

The uk ranked number 1. The uk has socialist healthcare system.

Will the day end with essentially a 'split decision' between Sanders and Biden? We will find out in about 7 hours from now.

My view is that American may not become a 100% socialist country, however, there has to be a way of ensuring that child birth doesn't cost over $4000 in out of pocket costs, and a trip to the emergency room doesn't set someone back by $100,000.

Shady sources?

All told, nearly 3% of Canada's population was waiting for some kind of medical care at the end of last year.

Those delays were excruciatingly long. After receiving a referral from a general practitioner, the typical patient waited more than 21 weeks to receive treatment from a specialist. That was the longest average waiting period on record -- and more than double the median wait in 1993.

Rural patients faced even longer delays. For instance, the average Canadian in need of orthopedic surgery waited almost 24 weeks for treatment -- but the typical patient in rural Nova Scotia waited nearly 39 weeks for the same procedure.

One Ontario woman, Judy Congdon, learned that she needed a hip replacement in 2016, according to the Toronto Sun. Doctors initially scheduled the procedure for September 2017 -- almost a year later. The surgery never happened on schedule. The hospital ran over budget, forcing physicians to postpone the operation for another year.

In the United States, suffering for a year or more before receiving a joint replacement is unheard of. In Canada, it's normal.

Just look at the United Kingdom's government enterprise, the National Health Service, which turns 70 this July. Today, British hospitals are so overcrowded that doctors regularly treat patients in hallways The agency recently canceled tens of thousands of surgeries, including urgent cancer procedures, because of severe resource shortages..

It costs money, serious effort and years to get a medical education and the doctors deserve their pay

Again, fake news from an American contributor to an American news site about Canadian healthcare.

The piece was not written by a journalist who did proper research and we can see the obvious bias.

First of all, waiting times are the least of problems. Even American hospitals have waiting times.

Secondly if only 3% of Canadians were on waiting for healthcare in the last year, THAT IS A F4CKING EFFECTIVE SYSTEM.

Thirdly, note how the author uses Canada as a representative of all socialized healthcare systems around the world. In her own words-

"Canada isn’t an anomaly. Every nation that offers government-funded, universal coverage features long wait times."

How can she claim that this is true for all other countries with socialized healthcare systems? In the UK, the wait times are okay and if you are impatient, you can always choose to pay for the private healthcare which should be faster.

The author of the article fails to understand that Americans have a deadlier wait time when it comes to healthcare- imagine finding out that you are not insured for a particular sickness or that a doctor in your hospital is not under your insurance provider: you now have to look for another doctor or plan to insure you.

The top 10 developed countries in the world all have socialist healthcare. Instead of looking at ancient history for answers, you have present answers in the countries around you.

Check out Denmark, UK, Sweden, Canada etc dont be ignorant. In these countries, they would see Bernie Sanders as a normal politician and not a socialist.

Everyone of them bashing socialism have not lived anywhere outside the USA, I have lived in Germany and the UK and the social safety nets are on point. Folks ain't sleeping in trains and converting a whole section of a boulevard to a sleeping shark. Y'all save us with the American bullshiit mirage it's all f***king PR, many nations are doing better than us in all ramification, they don't need to go under to afford healthcare, while big pharm and lobbyists keep on buying our politicians and citizens ration insulin. In fact while in Germany, a friend from Ivory Coast was cured from liver cancer without paying a dime, yet, y'all wanna tell us how the rigged American system is gold, when a 9 - 5 MD state department staff pays more in Federal tax than all fortune 500 companies combined last year. Y'all save some of us that have experience how government works without greed from all these crap y'all are sprouting.
I'm a realist, and I believe in calling a spade a spade. What you typed up there is nothing but the truth. Many people really do not know or understand indepthly what socialism stands for. No thanks to the geopolitical divide during the Cold War era and the stereotype that accompanies it, spearheaded by MSM brainwashing propaganda and the geopolitical power tussle between the West and the East.

So, the majority of this current generation that grows along that propaganda line are wired to only think of socialism as "the government of the oppressor, by the oppressor, and for the oppressor".

Hence, once many of these good people comes across the term socialism, they're quick to denounce it as pure evil while praising the progress made by democratic societies. But, what many of them don't know already is that both socialism and capitalism are purely economic principles that can, and have been practiced under different polytical systems.

Both have their merits and demerits.

Formal Libya under Qaddafi wasnt close to what the west defines as democracy, yet its socialist economic principles inherent in its so-called non-democratic system was so good that the standard of living of an average Libyan citizen makes a fool out of a U.S, France, or UK citizen.

But, where is Libya today, in tarters and debris, courtesy of the West and their gunboats democracy as spearheaded by capitalism.

Germany today operate a democratic system, but only a few knows that majority of its economic principles is enshrined in socialist dictum. Even the UK, Sweden and a host of other nations that runs along with socialist principles are doing better than many of the so-called capitalist democracies.

Most times, people fails to understand that it isn't the economic and political system perse that is the main problem, but the operators of the system.

If people think that socialism stifles economic and political freedom, and is a precursor to tyranny, then how should we classified capitalism, the hallmark of economic GREED that has forced the world to experience two world wars, and is gradually pushing us towards a third, a nuclear showdown that would annihilate most human lives and make the crocroaches and bacteria reign as kings.

We all know that the only reason the US waged war with Iraq was for oil...not for the American interest but for the capitalist greed.

It's same reason is in Syria, same reason the US has a military base on the asss of every major oil producing nation on earth. Same reason Big Pharma is fighting hard to block alternative medicine, and it's same reason why holistic doctors are dying mysteriously everywhere.

While capitalism create competitiveness, which in turn fosters efficiency (in an ideal world), the evils it has brought far outweighs all of its good to mankind.

To me, no one system is best or flawless.

Nevertheless, it's a fact that most Americans are wired to denounce and reject socialism, and since this is now the case, how would Bernie be able to man up against Trump if he eventually clinch the Dems nomination? Honest to God, I'm still surprised that Biden won a state as S. Carolina.

The prospect is no longer looking like a roller-coaster for Bernie anymore, especially now with Buttigieg endorsing Biden. It's becoming more glaring that the Dems don't want Bernie to be their flag bearer, and that's why I kept saying they lack a concrete political base to unseat Trump.

What is this one saying?

First of all, Bernie Sanders is advocating for what many in the USA call "democratic socialism". His socialism is like that of EU countries like UK, Sweden or Denmark.

His kind of socialist is a capitalist economy but based on socialist policies like
-Government provided healthcare for all.
-free or cheaper access to education for all.
-a progressive system of taxation
-a humane or higher minimum wage.

Most of the countries you mentioned are hardcore communist countries. Communism differs from socialism. Socialism is more about economics and nationalising the means of production. Communism is the political system that empowers a government's total control of a nation, including the economy and means of production.

Furthermore, it was not just communism that was the downfall of Cuba and other countries you mentioned. It was corruption. It does matter what system of government you run- once it is corrupt, the country falls apart.
You are enlightened! cool
