The Honourable Minister for Information and Culture, Alh. Lai Mohammed is said to have declared to run for political office in 2023. The Minister who is in the forefront of the crisis rocking the Kwara APC is alleged to be nursing the ambition of either taking over from the current Governor or unseating the incumbent Senator of his district who is yet to spend a year in office.


Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the Governor is said to be a hard nut for Lai Mohammed and his faction that includes the state party chairman and some members of the state executive. They have since then been plotting against the Governor who is reported to be popular among Kwarans.

The information Minister made the declaration at Argungu in Kebbi state during the annual fishing festival where he was conferred with a traditional title. He made the statement while appreciating the Emir of Argungu after he was dressed as the Kakakin Kebbi.

Although, the self acclaimed leader of Kwara politics failed to specify what he will be running for in the next general elections come 2023 but feelers have it that the erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the APC has his eyes fixed on Kwara's topseat.

He went further to acknowledge the National Leader of the APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu who he referred to as a leader Nigeria needs. Kwarans have repeatedly accused Lai Mohammed of taking what belongs to Kwara in terms of appointments and opportunities to Lagos in order to remain in the good books of his godfather. Most Kwarans are not happy with his attitude towards anything that has to do with Kwara, as he has shown in the appointment of aides in his office.

"Lai Mohammed Campaign Organisation (LAMCO) which will birth "Restoration 2023" will be inaugurated fully in days to come" Mohammed said.


Alh. Mohammed's aides didn't pick up nor respond to text messages sent to them as at the time of filing this report.

Were u in the state? The kind of efforts n sacrifices these men put in place to dislodged Saraki out of Kwara I don't think u contributed 0.1% of it. They started from Rerun Rep election in Kwara South area of the state where Saraki didn't only spent but enmassely campaigned with Tough and money.
And if u have bn following Kwara Election keenly Lai has bn contested for gubernatorial for a while before Abdulrasaq even nurtured to become a Governor.
