I'm at a crossed roads friends. I have some capital to acquire a property. A Real estate company here on the Island is offering a juicy package. But my fear is will I be able to afford the monthly / yearly dues in a service estate? I will appreciate your contributions. Especially from experience. Which is better please? Buying a house in a serviced estate OR buying /building elsewhere?

Mods please help a hustling Nigerian. Thank you

I go for elsewhere. You may not meet up with the regular upkeep.

If u know u have sustainable investments that will generate yields equal/more than d monthly /yearly dues, then fine. But if u don't have, u will only run ur account down and @d end, ur either disconnected or u pay up.

Look at d long term effect. For me, I analyzed it, paying school fees, professional dues, religious dues, commitments here & there, car maintenance,...... Its better I know am paying rent & enjoying such services.

I would advice you build your own house. The only reason the real estate company is offering a juicy package is because of the service charge. The discount they have given you on the sale ,they make up for it through the service charge.
Now what if for a start, the service charge Is affordable, then after few years they increase it, then what do you do?

If you are considering building your own house, you can hit me up on 09056082348(call & Whatsapp)

My friend, shut up your mouth. Spent ordinary 50k and you're bankrupt, yet you are online telling someone 500k is nothing.

Don't pretend to be who you're not online, it's a very stupid thing to do.
